For the first time since 1969 a meteorite has gone through a European roof.

Thanks for posting this, Fen. That's a pretty big chuck of rock. Curious how smooth it is on that side and so square looking?

The smoothness comes from melting as it falls through the atmosphere.

I hope he took possesion of it and didnt allow the people he hired to take it. I'm sure its worth a few thousand dollars to some scientist.

He could even eBay it.

isnt this the week of the Perseid meteor showers?
is this somehow linked to that shower?

They're keeping them at the Norwegian Institute for Astrophysics. They borrow them for research from the people who found them . I would do the same, i would like to know as much as possible about my rock before even thinking of selling it to anyone...

"
It has been a fantastic meteorite summer. This is a very rare meteorite, a so-called carbon meteorite, and it will get a fine spot amongst our others at the museum," said geologist Roaldset.

Museum? WTH! if i just find something like this i will kept it with me.

just think from where original it comes. Is a gift from the sky.
