That was a particularly stupid remark, because only one fighter was relevant: the Mig-21. When it was first released it was better than American equivalents in many respects. But by the time of that footage (judging from the quality) it was probably well out of date.

The MiG-21 when new had no legs..it was basically point defense fighter. An American contemporary fighter was the F-8. In everything except top speed the F-8 was better, despite having the handicap of having to deal with the extra weight of being a carrier fighter.

Anyway..kind of topic of the thread but its such a poor video and the "cylidner"..well..never mind..
