For me this establishes a commonality between the two races of Neanderthal and Modern Humans.

Both had a common trait of exploration and expansion into new territory.
Illustrating how we are more alike than we are different.

If we met a well dressed and well groomed Neanderthal at a party, we might not even realize they are not the same race.
There is a great deal of diversity in humans.
We might just accept them as representing a form of human diversity.
    Whatever works, use it.

A good idea stands on its own value independent of authorship.
If it stands or falls on the credibility of the author, maybe it isn't such a good idea.
