[b]Well, Mother Nature might play a part, but.. all of those things you have mentioned have been around and have happened for centuries and before. Natural disasters are older than man. Just because we have the technology to predict them, or warn of their coming, does not mean that the number is greater today than in the past. What about volcanoes? Rarely do we see a volcanic eruption, and they happened all of the time during the dawn of man and before.
Also, if you believe in the Bible (you mentioned Noah's Ark), then you know that the world will never be flooded as a way of destruction again. The symbolism of the rainbow was (is) God's promise to Noah and all generations that the Earth will never be flooded again.
I believe that fire will be the element of distruction - either by way of Nuclear War or maybe Meteor. Just my two cents.
