On 17/10/2006 there was a blue halo round the sun, complete circle. Did anyone see it? Does anyone have any idea what this could mean? I already know about ice crystals etc.
The date was marked as the UV activation wave day, for thosewho believe in spiritual enlightenment and uplifing of mans vibrations etc.
Has anyone else got any thoughts or ideas on this, it is strange that it fell on the same day as a blue halo round the sun.

Hello to you,
The report I had was around lunch timefrom Africa. The day was clear with a good hot sun and they have since had two days of severe rain storms.
This is the link to the UV report. (Hope I can put links in here?)

I did not see the sun, I was not able to from the UK.
Hope this helps, I only found out the day before and it wasnt something I was looking for, but It was interesting to note the blue halo on the same day.

ha all i seen that day was the divorce papers that got served to me.
very interesting, and this took place in africa? i guess it wasn't seen far wide. i'd like to know how far out was the circle compared to the circle outline of the sun and the thickness of i guess it would be a so called ring right?
NASA - Never A Straight Answer
from what i can tell it sounds like a normal phenomenon
when there are (enough) ice crystals present in the air at high altitudes, the sun will appear to have a circular rainbow around it, starting from red on the inside to blue on the outside
it is possible that only the blue was visible due to light conditions, amount of ice, and other factors
considering that there was a rainstorm (of some degree) there recently it makes perfect sense that there would be a significant number of ice crystals to cause this

The blue halo around the Sun on that specific date was probably a disruption on a cooler side of the moon, which would usually create a red solar flare, but because the cool parts of the moon are black, the halo appeared to look dark, or blue to human eyes.
The flame probably wasn't blue, but red. Seeing as the Sun is so many millions of miles away, it only looked blue. The lighting in between your eyes and the sun probably magnified and edited that light to make it look a certain color.
I never saw this halo, so my opinion would be partly biased to what I know about the Sun.
