Default A tear in the heliosphere?

October 15, 2009: For years, researchers have known that the solar system is surrounded by a vast bubble of magnetism. Called the "heliosphere," it springs from the sun and extends far beyond the orbit of Pluto, providing a first line of defense against cosmic rays and interstellar clouds that try to enter our local space. Although the heliosphere is huge and literally fills the sky, it emits no light and no one has actually seen it.

    Until now.

... not tear. from what i understand the heliosphere is microfine particles swirling around in the furtherest reaches of our sun's gravitational field. so a 'stream' of particles possibly heavier or more magnetically affected is not unreasonable an assumption.

in fact, the heliosphere might be well all that remains of the nebula in which our sun was originally formed.

that's what seems likely to me.

    Cool As I Was Saying

    Hi All,

Since I first came here, I have been talking about the Heliosphere, the Galactic Plane, the Weakening Sun, and all the other science backed, but nothing proven, dangers of the end of 2012.

And I don't know if it's good or bad, but today I can say "I Told You So".

    Read it and weap: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...016112630.htm#

When they speak of the Galactic Magnetic Shift In Time, they know the time is Dec.21 2012.

Time is now to start digging in.

i still think that it being the remains of when our star was born to be more plausible

The ribbon or the heliosphere itself?

the helosphere itself. the 'ribbon' is just heavier particles attracting each other. even something that small has gravity.

Well, the link that OB provided explains what the heliosphere is.

    tahn,

Speculating about the Heliosphere, is like doubting Saturn has Rings.

Not only is the Heliospere real, but it is collapsing due to the Sun weakening state.

The Sun Less Power, and The Sky is Falling, are just a couple of threads you should check out.

They are both about the Heliospere, the Suns relation to it, and what NASA knows but ain't talking about.
