Assassins Apprentice by Robyn Hobb (trilogy, now finishing off book 3).

It's very good, albeit in places depressing. The main character doesn't seem to get a break.

I juggle several books at once. This week, I finished:

The Doomsday Conspiracy by Sidney Sheldon (reread)
Rage of Angels by Sidney Sheldon

And I am now in the middle of:

Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris (reread)
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
