For you boxing fans what are your prediction's for Saturday's big fight?

Oscar De La Hoya v.s. Ricardo Mayorga?

I hope that Oscar wins!

Mayorga is doing way to much trash talking.

Oscar is brave for taking on this guy, he is pretty tough.

It should be a good fight.

I used to be Aztec, when I was younger, I can remember before Tyson lost it all, and was still a wrecking machine, as a young man, I never saw a better fighter.

It's definitely a match to see. Oscar De La Hoya the boxer and Ricardo Mayorga the brawler. Both have knock out power. I think Oscar will win since he uses his head when he's in the ring. Mayorga is a good fighter, but he has a potty mouth and too much of a hateful attitude when he talks about his opponents. I know that's all part of the sport, but I wish someone would knock him down so he can get some humility.

The two of you are right about Tyson, in his early years he was awesome to watch. So were Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bo.

I love boxing! Aslong as I aint one of the boxers tongue.gif

Lennox Lewis was the man, he's right up there with the best like Ali and Holyfield. Yes he lost a few fights but he always came back in the rematch and give them a left hook or two biggrin.gif

Ricky 'The Hitman' Hatton is absolutely amazin. America watch out coz this fella is on a mission to destroy all the best you can offer!

Well, considering the way De La Hoya has been fighting lately, I'd put my money on Mayorga. Once those "great" fighters start losing it's all down hill from there. Look at boxers like Roy Jones. He was amazing. He loses a fight, and his confidence went right out the window. De la Hoya's fighting abilities have significantly deteriorated over the last few years I think. Boxing is 90% mental (blah, blah, blah I know), and if you don't have the confidence you can't win. Whoever wins though, I'm sure it will be a great fight.

Some of the greatest boxers have never gone pro cuz they were Cuban. My two favourite were Muhammed Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard. Here in Canada we have this guy George Chuvalo. He was never ever knocked out. He is famous for going toe to toe with Ali and being smacked in the head a zillion times by Ali but never going down. To this day Ali talks about how tuff Chuvalo was. He is an incredible man. He has gone through much sorrow watching his kids die from heroin abuse and suicide and his first wife too. This man has had incredible sadness in his life but he is a positive role model and speaker for kids. So he is someone as a boxer I really admire for his fight outside the ring as well. I myself boxed as a kid and it definitely saved me from getting into serious trouble or maybe even killing myself when I was real troubled. One one level people think it is brutal like cock fights, but in the gym as a kid, its very disciplined and controlled and it teaches you self respect and how to control your anger and believe in yourself and accept limitations and loss and still be proud of yourself. So I am a boxing fan although I do not like a lot of today's matches because I think they have been compromised by organized crime. That said, I gotta go with Oscar. This is shaping up to be like a version of the old days when the ballet dancer Ali (like OScar) goes against a mawler/prodder (Joe Frazier) like Ricardo. I will guess Oscar will take a few zingers but finesse his way to a win.

Lennox Lewis, a great boxer. Theopolo Stevenson from Cuba (I probably spelled it wrong) a Gold Medal winner in the Olympics probably the best non pro I saw. Tyson is pure punk and trash. Sugar Ray Leonard a graceful athlete. Oscar by the way has some great moves. You wanna see some amazing matches, try see some old classics with Joe Lewis or Rocky Marciano. They would amaze you. Also Muhammed Ali's daughter is a terrific boxer. She clearly shows that women can box and have tremendous ability in the ring.

BoricuaGoddess I agree Mayorga needs some smacking on Saturday to shut him up! Felix Trinidad got Mayorga good when they fought each other!

Hitnoxfiction I see where you are coming from, but I think Oscar still has a few tricks left in his bag. Roy Jones was amazing to watch. For awhile there he looked unbeatable, but on certain nights anyone can have your number, and bam you lose.

Hey, Rube

You are right about Ali, and Leonard they were awesome boxers with lighting fast moves, and skills definitely two of the all time best of the best in the boxing world.

No doubt Lennix Lewis made a name for himself like YellowCard said he always avenged his losses.

YellowCard I have seen Hatton in action, he is a wildman in the ring I look forward to seeing him fight Luis Collazo on May 13th should be explosive!

Another boxer from your neck of the woods YellowCard that took me by surprize, and won my respect is Joe Calzaghe! Man, he made Jeff Lacy look bad!

I am looking forward to Saturdays fight!

Good to see some boxing fans on the forum! biggrin.gif

Calzaghe is awesome and almost unstoppable when he prepares right! It's a shame that the heavyweight division is rather pants at the minute, If I only had 3 fingers on my hand that would be sufficient to count the half decent heavy weight boxers around at the moment.
