Interestingly the fossil was discovered in the 1980s but spent most of the interim in a private collection.
Another read about it from Cryptomundo...
Missing Link Ida: Media Darling
http://www.cryptomundo.com/cryptozoo-news/ida/“She belongs to the group from which higher primates and human beings developed but my impression is she is not on the direct line,” Franzen conceded.
Independent experts are keen to see the new fossil but somewhat skeptical of any claim that it could be “a missing link.”
Dr. Henry Gee, a senior editor at the journal Nature, said the term itself was misleading and that the scientific community would need to evaluate its significance.
In search of the real truth.
I wonder if she would be surprised at what she is responsible for....Originally Posted by Andrew

Look at that pose.
She was tapping on a key board.
Maybe we actually devolved.
Whatever works, use it.
A good idea stands on its own value independent of authorship.
If it stands or falls on the credibility of the author, maybe it isn't such a good idea.
At 47 Mya-old we are way far back time and Darwinius masillae is not really the ‘missing link’ to the Human species.
Watched the history channel story of it last night. They were into it being a transition creature where the lemur and primate line diverged.
Teeth and toes were primate.
Whatever works, use it.

I read all the protests from palaeontologists and evolutionary biologists, which is why I named the thread as I did.Originally Posted by allison1597
