Our ability to detect earth sized panets is still pretty feeble.
Kind of like looking for a single grain of dust beside a 100 watt bulb.
If we ever get a really good array of instruments beyond the photosphere it will improve a lot.
But, consider how many decades it took voyeger and Pioneer probes to get there.
Detecting the ones we are is pretty impressive, as feeble as it is.
Whatever works, use it.
