Here’s an interesting blurb. It may take a bit of ‘digging’ to find out more and I know there are a lot of conspiracy theorists who have tried to link the ownership of the Reserve to a nefarious group of people bent on controlling the World… ~rore
The Federal Reserve System is not "owned" by anyone and is not a private, profit-making institution. Instead, it is an independent entity within the government, having both public purposes and private aspects.
As the nation's central bank, the Federal Reserve derives its authority from the U.S. Congress. It is considered an independent central bank because its decisions do not have to be ratified by the President or anyone else in the executive or legislative branch of government, it does not receive funding appropriated by Congress, and the terms of the members of the Board of Governors span multiple presidential and congressional terms. However, the Federal Reserve is subject to oversight by Congress, which periodically reviews its activities and can alter its responsibilities by statute. Also, the Federal Reserve must work within the framework of the overall objectives of economic and financial policy established by the government. Therefore, the Federal Reserve can be more accurately described as "independent within the government."
The twelve regional Federal Reserve Banks, which were established by Congress as the operating arms of the nation's central banking system, are organized much like private corporations--possibly leading to some confusion about "ownership."

ETA: There are twelve regional Federal Reserve Banks.
If I was thinking conspiracy, I would say; “Hey! Aren't there references in the Bible about Israel being comprised of twelve tribes?”…

lol. i'd wager that its all spoken for.
It is an independent government agency that is self-funded.
why would a national government agency need to be self funded? and have private aspects?

Probably because back in the early 1900’s banks had their own notes, could fold and take investors monies with them leaving the investor (the person who puts their money in the bank’s savings account) with nothing.
Privately owned Banks could hold the US economy as hostage.
There’s a lot to it. Research it and tell us?
I’m not too interested in economics, capitalism etc although I am very interested in knowing my money is laying secure in a federally insured bank.
With the Govt. in control it is harder to cheat the people out of their money although it does happen… The savings and loan scams of the 1980’s (which Busch jr [sic] was involved in and got exonerated) the sharks on Wall St. back in the 1980’s etc.
Economics is interesting and if I were smarter way back when, I probably would have become an economist…lol ~rore
