Thread: Flu is Not The Biggest Danger ... It's The Vaccine

I won't take it. In my whole life, I've only ever had ONE flu shot and I've never been diagnosed with influenza. Now I know I just jinxed myself. I'll be dead of flu in six months. Just watch. lol.

I had the flu back in '08 for a month after not having it since I was maybe 8 years old. Of course that was also the last time I had a flu shot. I'll pass on getting a Swine Flu shot thank you. I'm all for building my immunity without a vaccine.

Way to go G. My father whose 80 now told me years ago that the problem (health) with the world was that people where to healthy. We get vaccinated for everything and develop no natural immunities. Introduce a new strain of virus, a new vaccine, suddenly people with certain traits be that race, physical appearence or some other defining gene begin to become sterile or worse dying of yet another 'new. diease. Dont trust them,,,,dont be foolish,,,but get informed and do what you think is best for yourselves.

Knew this bloke in the navy up in Darwin. he was 28 had the flu,,,suffered a major heart attack,,,dead....He was fit, a runner, light drinker and light smoker. Just goes to show that you just never know.

I would probably take it if I was a nurse, doctor, emegency worker, (paramedic, firefighter, police officer) and I would think twice about it if I was a hospital worker, day care centre worker, teacher, bus driver, you know people in high risk positions or a senior.

I think a lot of the fear about vacines comes from an ignorance as to how they work.

I mean we have seen lots of stories about people thinking vacines cause autism and kill people and quite frankly most of that is based on unfounded nonsense.

That said, me personally I have not taken the shot because I am in a low risk job and wash my hands a lot. If I thought I could be a danger to someone I would take it.

I think they have a right to have access to it if they want to take it.

There is no conspiracy. Swine flu is a mutated virus. You want a culprit-its probably the unintentional consequence of free trade. What happened is the free trade laws between Canada, Mexico and the U.S. made it more economically feasible for large pork producers to move to Mexico where they could employ cheaper labour and there are no health regulations.

As a result the pigs' food and living quarters mixed with their excrement and open troughs of rotted food and excrement mixed and provided the ideal breeding ground for this flu which was then transmitted onto the hands of employees.

No conspiracy. Just poor health standards and people doing what people do, not wash their hands and then spread the germs.

I mean think about it. You get in an airplane you breath recycled dirty air. The increased air travel and movement of people passes this stuff quickly from the immediate zone of fall out to a global network within days-all it takes is sneezing, handling people's food, and touching public places to spread it.

Best thing we can do is read up on these illnesses and engage in good personal hygiene habits.

Ignorance breeds fear. Read about it and find out how it is created and spreads and engage in good hygiene practices.

There is no conspiracy. I am sure CIA agents have been told to wash their hands just like you.

Hey there Mika, I agree with most of what you said but have left these few points to remake upon.

I actually know of two people (families) who have brought healthy happy babies into this world only to see them suffer server brain damage after recieving their triple antigen shots. These children, as with the other children in their families, wherre healthy and developing normally until that shot which caused the reaction (Yes in both cases it was determined that the child had suffered a 'reaction', so you can see why I am dubious about these things. it might surprise some of you to learn that upon autospy the brain of an infant who has died from a reaction from the trile antigen shot is indistinushable from that of an infant who has died from what has become known as 'shaken baby sydrome'.

Absolutely right. People should have access to this and any other vaccine should they want to take it. (Without charge as any drug/vaccine which is supposed to prevent illness should be paid for by the government soley based on the reasoning that it would save the government money on the costs associated with curing the diease.)

I am a great believer in making informed decisions. It is said that if just plain ordinary hand soap was availible to everyone in the world then roughly 1/3 of all dieases would disappear. i am glad you brought up the point of washing hands. Too many people just dont do it. My wife has, i will give you all a very very abreveiated summery, Crohns dieasse, Graves diease, leaking heart valve, mylodesplasisa (I havent spelt that right but its a rare form of leukemeia) not to mention kidney, liver and other problems such as arthritis and early onset alzimers. My wife has been on live support in 2001, 2003,2004,2005 (extended period) 2006, 2007 so I am extemely aware of the importance of washing hands etc. She has battled breast cancer twice, thyroid (removed) secondary bowl cancer and from the age of around 15 she has had so many surgeries that I am truely guessing here but believe me when I am saying that this is a light estimate but I would put the figure at around 75+ major surgeries and has basically no immune system left so you can see why personal hygenie is important in our household. If I may offer a tip here to add to your very good point Mika.

GET USED TO CARRYING A SOAP FREE HAND SANITISER (Detol, Mircoshield, Aquirm) These are just three brands I know of here in Aus but any pharmacy or drug store should be able to point you in the right direction. Use these even after you have washed your hands, espesically in public conveniences as you still have to use the handle of the door too get out of the bathroom and everyone else who HASNT washed their hands are now shaking your nice freshly washed hand.Yuck!

Health care workers are planning to take to the streets Tuesday at a rally in front of the Albany, N.Y. state capitol to protest mandatory vaccination.

The rally is intended to call for "freedom of choice in vaccination and health care" and to protest mandatory vaccination for influenza and the H1N1 swine flu. "This vaccine has not been clinically tested to the same degree as the regular flu vaccine," Tara Accavallo, a registered nurse on Long Island, told Newsday. "If something happens to me, if I get seriously injured from this vaccine, who's going to help me?"

While physicians, nurses, and medical technicians may not be known for their willingness to march on state capitols, a recent New York Department of Health requirement has sparked an unusually intense response. The August 13 regulations say that all health care workers who "could potentially expose patients" must be vaccinated for influenza by November 30 unless it would be "detrimental" to the recipient's health. (Any reprieve would be temporary and last only until injection with the vaccine would "no longer be detrimental.") ........

I only got the flu shot once back about 13 or 14 years ago. Don't plan on getting anymore.

To those that already have received the flu shot, would you please post your expereinces... any adverse reaction... or not reaction at all?
