Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.
You might want to just make a phone call over there. Brazil is releasing documents but you have to be there in person because there's so many records they just don't have the manpower to make them available via the internet.
A lot of researchers who are serious for books and such have to just bite the bullet and travel to the physical archives to research them. That might be what you'll have to do in this case. Good luck!

RAAF file J63/25 control symbol 5/40/Air part 3
Ninety six pages of this file, which came from the RAAF Townsville base, have so far been released. There are numerous low-weight nocturnal light observations plus a number of intriguing reports, which include:

- 22 Mar 1975 2230hrs Dingo-Mt Flora Road, 1.3mls south of Emmerdale Station, near Nebo, Qld. Five young people in a car were travelling in a northerly direction when they sighted an unusual object only some 30m off the road. They turned the car around and cruised past the spot, then turned again and parked by the object thus affording them a good view. A ring of lights surrounded the object and above this was a large disk shape. The object had purple coloured rings within it, which decreased in size. In the middle was a black central disc about 6 inches across. The lights which circled the UFO increased in brightness and blinked on and off quite fast. A very loud bang sound was then heard. The witnesses left the scene. Shortly thereafter they met members of a road construction gang at their camp. One of these workers accompanied them back to the scene but when they arrived nothing unusual was visible. One of the witnesses reported the incident to the Nebo police the next day and the Senior Constable Curley of Nebo Station visited the scene to find one large round shape on the ground plus three half moon shaped marks all of which appeared fresh. The RAAF also investigated the scene, interviewed one of the witnesses and spoke to two construction gang members, plus took photographs of the scene and the marks
- 30 Aug 1975 115nm ENE of Mackay Qld 1233z 10-15 secs. Pilot Ware and co-pilot Hyde were flying a 10 Squadron Neptune aircraft when the pilot noted lights on or slightly above the horizon at 300 deg az mag. The aircraft was heading 290 deg az mag when Ware sighted three white lights. Two were in the same horizontal plane and the third positioned half way between and above that plane. They were moving horizontally left to right. The lights continued to move to the right and approach the aircraft. The pilot drew the co-pilot’s attention to them then banked the aircraft to the left and climbed believing a collision might occur. The lights passed down the aircraft’s starboard side, and seemed to disappear as if into cloud. The co-pilot clearly saw the same group of lights which he said were the size of Venus but not as bright. They shone steadily a white/yellow colour. The lights were not picked up on the aircraft’s radar.

As you have correctly asserted, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) formely had a responsibility for investigating and assessing the validity of UAS. However, after careful examination of the factual data and historical records that had been gathered over many years, it was determined that the collective evidence did not warrant the continued allocation of resources by the RAAF to investigate and report on UAS. Subsequently, the RAAF ceased this function.
I can advise that Defence does not accept UAS reports, but directs any such reports to local police authorities or civil unidentified flying object research organisations, through the relevant state telephone directory. I can also advise that defence does not maintain records on UAS or on the number (if any) of attempts to report them. Neither does the RAAF maintain any personnel whose duties include the monitoring, collection or analysis of UAS reports from any source. In addition, Defence has never conducted any scientific research into UAS.

UFo Conference Original Article
ACUFOS - Fourth National UFO Conference Review
The first speaker on day one was Deb Payne from AURA in Adelaide who spoke on “The Australian Disclosure Project – What The Government Has On UFOs”. AURA has been consistently searching the Australian National Archives for official records of UFO incidents and placing them on a web page at http://disclosure.freewebpage.org. For the past year AURA has been searching the records of the RAAF, CSIRO, Dept of External Affairs, RAN, Dept of Supply (Woomera), DSTO, Bureau of Meteorology, the former Dept of Civil Aviation and have also come across various references to a nebulous group called “the committee” whose identity is still unknown.
Deb informed us that what you discover through searching the archives will depend largely on who you ask. If the staff have or develop an interest in the UFO subject they will tend to bring to your attention other information they have come across while helping with your initial request.
One of the more interesting discoveries that emerged through AURAs search was the Australian governments involvement with a UN UFO study that drew on UFO reports from 133 countries. Deb gave an account of records of various sightings, investigations and projects, one of them being Project Moondust in 1961. This was set up to recover downed foreign space vehicles during the Korean War. She also reported a reference to four officers from Woomera who observed a cigar-shaped object with portholes and interior lighting moving faster than any objects they usually recognised. Again at Woomera on October 8, 1952 an object was detected to come within a mile of the base but remained unseen. Further records included a report in 1954 when a dark grey circular disk paced a Canberra bomber then flew above it while still keeping pace, then took off at high speed in excess of 3600mph.
AURAs search has revealed that next to Woomera the most prolific spot for UFO incidents has been around the Milne Bay area in Papua New Guinea and Deb gave a list of sightings for just one year in that particular area. One of these included reports of several lights seen emerging from the water by twelve people from the Croker Island Mission and the HMAS Bass being sent to investigate.
Another bit of interesting information to emerge from their search was the reference to Frederick Valentich, the Australian pilot who went missing over Bass Straight in 1977. The official record which Deb showed the audience stated that Valentich was “abducted”. This does not necessarily mean by aliens but an interesting statement nonetheless. Deb concluded her presentation with a plan by AURA to become politically active by lobbying the Australian government to reveal what they know in about two to three years.
On a personal note, Deb Payne was new to conference speaking but you wouldn’t have known it as her presentation was extremely professional providing the audience with much information that had been gleaned in AURAs search. I enjoyed listening to Deb as she was a clear and concise speaker and I was impressed by the vast amount of material that AURA had searched through to date. I also recognised how her personal search through the archives had impacted on her as I have been through the same experience after speaking to many people reporting sightings and encounters over the years. It is not until one does their own research, and a lot of it, that the magnitude and truth of what we are dealing with truly touches us. I encourage Deb to continue to present information gleaned from AURAs search at conferences as it is extremely valuable in driving the message home that the existence of exra-terrestrials is far from the folkloric myths and legends that many want to believe it to be. It is very real and going on right under our own noses!

NEWSLETTER TWENTY-FIVE OCTOBER 2005
Recently, the Project received an unsolicited communication from a woman who identified herself as the former girlfriend of Frederick Valentich, the Australian pilot who disappeared while flying an aircraft over Bass Strait in 1978. She was seeking our knowledge of the existence of any Government documents on the event. It is intended to interview her shortly, to obtain her own knowledge of the events of that time. In the meantime, was there anything in the Government's UFO files about this disappearance?
Government files from the year 1978 are not yet accessible under the Archives Act. Files have to be at least 30 years old in order to access them. However, under the Federal Freedom of Information (FOI) Act it is possible to go back to 1978.

Hope all this helps, there are more.
