So there you go... I'm interested about hearing about this... can you remember anything about the episodes and tell us... I've never seen one either except a few hairy looking gits at a party... But... like I said before... a couple of people have sighted the Black Cats behind my property... too close for comfort...

    Hey Guys,

Dingo,i also have been reading up on the blacks cats that are roaming around the mountains,i've lost track of how many times search teams from around the world have come to the Blue mountains and tried in vain to find the cats...i remember seeing in the telegraph a distorted picture of a big massive cat they caught on a still camera,it was pretty big for a feral, and also they found a massive paw print that was too big for a feral cat...

I also remeber seeing on the news a footage of a black roaming around the tall green grass, but you could only see just above the green grass, and you can just make out the top half of a big black cat, many say it's definitely a black panther, but still, there isn't proof....yet

Also the locals reckon they know where the cats were originally from....

They say the American sailors back in WW2 came here and brought their Black panther mascots with them, and when the war ended, they turned them loose in the wild and set sail to the U.S and the cats have been here since...

Sure I can... the episodes were the tv series Sightings... a group of "Bigfoot investigators" from the local area went out and spent a couple evenings out in this particular part of the woods. The got some weird noises on tape and some shadowy images... they also did this in the winter and actually had some tracks left behind... all kinda creepy to me ....

G'day Henri... Interesting about the theories... If you look on my post a few posts up... I have posted attachments regards as to couple of theories... I'll transcribe them as a post if I ever find time to do so..... they come from images so won't pick up the writing to cut and paste...

Also pumas were brought in at the gold rush... and you know that horse place El Cablanco or whatever it was called, they also had big cats there... When that closed down quite a few years ago coz they went broke... some people reckon that they released some of the big cats like panthers etc out into the bush... But not many sightings seem to be close to where that place was... Maybe they transported them away to release them away from the place?

Plus there is some other theory as to that it may be an instinct marsupial cat like creature... looks a bit like a quoll... take a look at the attachments maybe... And I still have to get together some of the footprint info where they reckon it's more of a panther type coz of the way the claws are set up...

Intersting stuff eh.. and yup... no proof....

    Default Hey, Dingo!

Dingo, have you seen a footage aired years ago by Discovery Channel, in a documentary about the Tasmanian Tiger (tylacinus), showing an aleged survivor of this species crossing a road in Australia?

I have seen that documentary Kevin and it seemed pretty conclusive. I just hope they are still alive out there in the wild somewhere!

Apart from Nessie, and wild animals let loose in the forests we have no other incidents of strange creatures to my knowledge. I will do some research however.

Yeah... The fate of the Tasmanina Tiger... Thylacinus cynocephalus also commonly known as the Tasmanina Wolf...

    <div align="center"></div>

Here a link put up by the Australian Museum and the Tasmanain government about the fate of this tasmanina Tiger and some pictures to boot... interesting information for those who are interested...

    http://www.amonline.net.au/thylacine/01.htm

    http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/stories/s879154.htm

    http://www.dpiwe.tas.gov.au/inter.nsf/WebP...HAN-53777B?open

The thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus) is one of the most fabled animals in the world. Yet, despite its fame, it is one of the least understood of Tasmania's native animals. European settlers were puzzled by it, feared it and killed it when they could. After only a century of white settlement the animal had been pushed to the brink of extinction.

The thylacine looked like a large, long dog, with stripes, a heavy stiff tail and a big head. Its scientific name, Thylacinus cynocephalus, means pouched dog with a wolf's head. Fully grown it measured about 180 cm (6 ft) from nose to tail tip, stood about 58 cm (2 ft) high at the shoulder and weighed up to 30 kg. The short, soft fur was brown except for 13 - 20 dark brown-black stripes that extended from the base of the tail to almost the shoulders. The stiff tail became thicker towards the base and appeared to merge with the body.

Thylacines were usually mute, but when anxious or excited made a series of husky, coughing barks. When hunting, they gave a distinctive terrier-like, double yap, repeated every few seconds. Unfortunately there are no recordings.

The thylacine was shy and secretive and always avoided contact with humans. Despite its common name, 'tiger' it had a quiet, nervous temperament compared to its little cousin, the Tasmanian devil. Captured animals generally gave up without a struggle, and many died suddenly, apparently from shock. When hunting, the thylacine relied on a good sense of smell, and stamina. It was said to pursue its prey relentlessly, until the prey was exhausted. The thylacine was rarely seen to move fast, but when it did it appeared awkward. It trotted stiffly, and when pursued, broke into a kind of shambling canter.

    * 1936 World's last captive thylacine died in Hobart Zoo, ( 7/9/36).
    * 1936 Tasmanian tiger added to the list of protected Wildlife.
    * 1986 Thylacine declared extinct by international standards.

Since 1936, no conclusive evidence of a thylacine has been found. However, the incidence of reported thylacine sightings has continued. Most sightings occur at night, in the north of the State, in or near areas where suitable habitat is still available. Although the species is now considered to be 'probably extinct', these sightings provide some hope that the thylacine may still exist.

    Hi all

we have had about 50 big cat reports here in Fife in the last 5 years . They are thought to be black panthers, pumas and lynx . Fife has the largest amounts of reports of these animal in UK.

It is believed that these animals have been released in to country side by the owners when they have got to big to handle !

I have never seen any big cats around here, only my cat Rosie

I am willing to believe they are about as many of the sightings decribtions match
