i decided to stop smoking weed or any other drugs because i know that i am not using it to gain enlightenment or to heal myself im just using it cause im to damn bored to entertain myslef so i have to smoke weed which is freakin pitiful. Now that is not to say i will not use a drug for informational purposes (yes i do believe that certain drugs when used correctly can give one knowledge). For example i been reading and talking to people about salvia (which i smoked about a month ago without even knowing it.) and i think im gonna give try and learn something from that but if it don't work after 1 or 2 tries im done with it.

Eh, I see nothing wrong with using drugs as a form of 'entertainment' every now and again. As long as you aren't using it to the point of addiction, spending needed money of it, and not placing it before your main priorities, why not?

Salvia Divinorum is a great element, as long as you do it right. If you plan to start doing it, just be realy careful. It can be a GREAT experience, its unlike anything else.
The first time I did it I was thinking about people saying how they had 360 vision like having eyes in the back of your head. I just kept thinking about that and when I did it I experienced it, its fucking amazing. Salvia unlocks SOMETHING in your brain that we dont know how to use. You can see past lives, other peoples lifes, spirits, EVERYTHING.
When I did it there was people there that werent there before, they just sat with me and one of them said "She's ready." I could see behind me beside me EVERYWHERE. And no I wasnt turning my head. You see beautiful things that you cant even put into words... It lasted about ten minutes and the people like evaporated like vapor.

I'm not saying something like you should do it, I'm just sharing my experience, it sure is a spiritual thing, its amazing. Its just something you have to be VERY careful with because some people freak out realy bad if they dont know how to handle it or they have too much...

Soul Drifter, its hard to explain but you do gain certain knowledges...you see things you've never seen before...after you have a spiritual experience your never the same. Your wiser, its hard to explain, I cant explain it. You'd have to learn for yourself or search online or something....

So would there be a store that sells it? Or do I have to find somebody on the street?

And is it similar to acid?

I tried Salvia divinorum recently, using a 10x version of the active ingredient ‘salvinorin A’. The method of ingestion was inhalation of the burning substance (smoking) via a ‘water pipe’ at 11:00 am. Two 'tokes'...

annnd:

Intense Effects came on in less than 4 minutes and lasted
less than 2 minutes.

By intense, I mean a total break with reality: I experienced a visual ‘white-out; I could not hear what was happening around me; loss of muscle coordination (I slumped over, unable to straighten); my body felt numb; I was unable to organize/verbalize thoughts and I experienced an overall feeling of personal ‘loss of control/out of touch with reality‘ sensation.

After the intense effects diminished, I felt ‘crappy’ (tech term for ‘feeling like shit’…) for most of the day. I likened the experience to that of a ketamine ‘high’, like pcp etc… For me, a very "dissociative anesthesia" type experience…

Overall, not a real pleasant drug for me when taken at a dosage wherein the effects are readily ‘felt’. By this I mean, I had tried this drug before at low doses and the effects, in my experience, were less than ‘enlightening’, psychedelic, euphoric or ‘beneficial‘…

I was participating in research regarding a medical condition…

Steps are being taken in several US states to regulate/control this drug. California AB 259 was introduced Feb 5, 2007 ~rore

And for many other people so it seems. What really sucks is that we could not get some hoped for results…

Mande, I thot you titled this thread “no more drugs’ and now you are bent on using a psychoactive drug that appears to have worse side-effects than the drugs you are giving up? WTH…lol

O yeah, you want to get ‘enlightenment’ through the use of the drug… You know me Mande and what comes next: Watch your ass, be ‘Careful’ and don’t minimize the risk…lol

the only drugs i have tried is weed, which i don't see a problem with, i told myself, when i go to uni, i will try weed, and i did lol, it is harmless and fun, i know some people claim it is a gateway drug, but i feel that is a bit of a cop out, it is a gateway drug if you let it become one, and i myself, have the will power to know i will not go any further than weed,
that opinion was further backed yesterday, when me and 4 others were walking through the city centre at about 8pm, and a woman, clearly on heroin cme up to us asking for 30p to call for a bus, she gave a sob story, one of my freinds gave it her, then she started on another, we walked away and she kept hassling us, we saw her in mcdonalds later with her partner, totally out of it with like £25 quid worth of 20ps, that sight was enough to put me off hard drugs for life, and enough to make me want to help people, even people we feel don't deserve help

I would seem that not everybody gets the same experience.
I have honestly never done any kind of drug.
I don't even take aspirin for pain.

Well...does a little booze count?

SD posts: I[t] would seem that not everybody gets the same experience (from the use of Salvia).

It seems like the experience people are trying to get is the ‘Hallucinogenic/dissociative’ effect causing big time hallucinations and a break from ’normal reality’. This does cause some people to ‘freak out’ and presents serious risks to the user.

As KelliA posted in regards to a personal experience “You can see past lives, other peoples lifes, spirits, EVERYTHING”, ”When I did it there was people there that werent there before,”; It lasted about ten minutes and the people like evaporated like vapor.”
This indicates the drug is not to be treated lightly… Major hallucinations, out of touch with the World around you…

That above account is extremely similar to accounts by those who use Datura (Jimson Weed, Devil’s Trumpet) which is a very dangerous drug to try to use recreationally or for personal enlightenment.

The lasting side effects (several hours) I experienced with Salvia was a general mental and physical malaise… ~rore

Hmmmm.
I am curious then.
Why is excessive drinking called "alcoholism" and not "substance abuse"?
And when they refer to "drugs & alcohol", they refer to them separately?

Rore posts: Excessive drinking is called alcohol/substance abuse. Alcoholism is a term which denotes a medical condition brought on by excessive drinking/alcohol abuse.

SD posts: And when they refer to "drugs & alcohol", they refer to them separately?

Rore posts: My guess is it is to separate the two in context: “Drugs” are an illegal intoxicating substance and Alcohol is a legal intoxicating substance? ~rore
