Conspiracy theorists see dark forces
Jan. 6, 2005

Just 11 days after Asia's tsunami catastrophe, conspiracy theorists
are out in force, accusing governments of a cover-up, blaming the
military for testing top-secret eco-weapons or aliens trying to
correct the Earth's "wobbly" rotation.

In bars and internet chatrooms around the world questions are being
asked, with knowing nods and winks, about who caused the undersea
earthquake off Sumatra on December 26, and why governments didn't
act in the minutes and hours before tsunamis slammed into their
shores, killing almost 150,000.

"There's a lot more to this. Why is the US sending a warship? Why is
a senior commander who was in Iraq going there?" whispered designer
Mark Tyler, drinking a pint of beer at a bar in Hong Kong's Wan Chai
district.

"This happened exactly a year after Bam," said Tyler, referring to
the earthquake in Iran which killed 30,000 on December 26 last
year. "Is that a coincidence? And there was no previous seismic
activity recorded in Sumatra before the quake, which is very
strange," he said, nodding sombrely.

After every globally shocking event - from the bombing of Pearl
Harbour to the assassination of John F Kennedy, the death of
Princess Diana and the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the
United States - conspiracy theorists emerge with their own sinister
take on events.

Odd, I didn't know that the two quakes did coincided on the same date. I guess there are reasons for some conspiracies, but I don't think we will hear the good stuff for at least another month or two.

Is this based on anything? Or is it just speculation?

I can tell you who I think it was: Mr. Tectonic Plate and his family.

Military forces are always sent to catastrophy inflicted ereas. Maybe supplies, control or equipment. They're always involved after such accidents, though.

Actually it was 5000 deaths, and 30 000 injured.
There hasn't been reported any seismic activity in Sumatra? Where'd all the volcanoes come from then?

Always have, and they always will. But they're not always right, though wink.gif

I was meaning to post this but a few months ago in a restaurant i heard some guys talking about conspiracy theories, and the one guy said that "in the near future giant earthquakes will cause giant tsunamis, and they will be so big that they will swallow entire islands" I just noticed that that seems to fit with the recent tsunamis... weird...

The ring of fire does exist in that region where the floor collapsed. it is a very rare event that only happens ever 50 years from what I understand. the last one I believe was in Alaska. Im sure the US government didnt set off nukes under their own nation to kill people in northern california with their tsunami. (Which actually happened north of San francisc.. some 50 people died in 1966)

I find it disgusting how people seem to use such a disaster for supporting their conspiracy aims... really disgusting. angry.gif

Even conspiracy theorist's heroes like Alex Jones and Jack Blood (whom i have stopped listening to since then, because i believe both of them are totally insane) said they didn't believe the tsumami was caused by an underground weapon. It's still an interesting subject nonetheless. Of course David Icke believes it was caused by them.

In Indonesia, days and weeks before the tsunami hit, the natives or aborginals moved in-land long before the tsunami hit because they understood the signs the planet was giving off. Like Noah they were laughed at by other Indonesians who were shall we say "more modern". Apparently they relied on their sense of smell, their connection to wind currents and patterns, bird and animal behaviour (they are sensitive to electro-magnetic disturbances that precurse an earth-quake), changes to the level of the sea and fish migrations, etc. Nah, they weren't part of any conspiracy. Just respectful of
mother nature. The fact is the sea and all the elements of the planet are part of a life force independent of humans. Hard as that is for humans to understand-but no-this time government agents and military operatives didn't do it. It is a reminder that the earth as a living element independent of humans can spit us out whenever it wants if we do not respect it and learn to live within its rules.

We have your word for it, therefore it must be true.

So whether or not these aboriginals moved inland in advance of, and because of, the impending tsunami (and were subsequently ridiculed by the remaining population) is a matter of opinion and not fact?

The problem is that some people just cannot accept the fact that bad things can happen independently of any human intervention. This coupled with the fact that there are more than enough people out there who want to hold the US responsible for everything that goes wrong in the world means that there are always going to be these far-flung scatter-brained conspiracy theories.
