As you have probably heard on your local new network about Islam’s conducts on applying a covering to women’s hair and face.

Some people think this is wrong and women should be able to express her beauty to he world. But not all the people view this to be a good idea. Islam has kept this tradition of applying a covering to a women’s hair or face in the presence of a man or in public since the time of Prophet Mohammed (pbah). And it hold a significant religious meaning as well. So why should it be changed now?

Public schools in the states are trying to ban this. Saying that head attire is not permitted in the classroom

Ban it all, religion shouldn't be brought into public schools.

If they don't like it, then find a private school.

I don't think it's degrading to women... unless they are forced to wear it against their will. If it's a choice, then whatever...

This is a hard one as it is part of their religion to wear these head coverings. I think it should be a personal choice for the women and not forced upon them. Yesterday I saw two girls aged around 10-12 years old dressed in their soccer uniforms walking towards their team with them on their heads (only the scarves that cover the hair). I thought this strange as they were going to go play a game of soccer wearing their head scarves, that is a little extreme in my opinion. I know it is forced upon in Islamic countries, and even westeners should wear these scarves when they are over in these countries to avoid trouble with the islamic men. Did you know that you can get designer head coverings made by designers such as Channel etc.

Exactly. Sometimes I wonder how many of the women actually made the "choice" to wear them...

Its states that in the Quran

Because a man when witnessing a woman’s facial features or a women’s hair can be sexually aroused the hijab helps prevent that it is also for the protection of the female because as you already know there are allot of rapists out there

The mind is everything.

So those men cannot control their thoughts, and need the women to cover themselves completely? That is pathetic.

Are you hearing yourself... ?

RAPISTS DON'T CARE IF A WOMEN IS COVERED OR NOT!

Rapist, "I tried to rape this lady but damn, she had a hijab on and it blocked me...." << You ever heard that????

It's not a frigin force field... (Sorry, just haven't heard something that stupid in a while)

"The Hijab protects the women from getting raped".... omg... I wish my mom would have known that magical cure of rape.

Though i'm not a big fan of (?) so far, I feel the need to defend his point. The "hijab" is not meant to pull some counter attacks on a rapist, just to dull his urges by taking away the sexual site of the woman. Though I believe you knew this already...

Men aren't obeying natural instincts like animals in heat. We can control ourselves (I can't believe I'm even writing this). And it's especially unfair to expect women to take precaution for us. Men are responcible for their own urges, not women. When it comes to religious reasons for having them, things get a little touchy. The Koran makes laws for society as well as religious rules and guidelines (however erroneous), so the hijab will probably stay on within the strictest islamic families. Optimally, it would be a choice for the women to bear (some say they like them), like Saber said.

That does'nt change the fact that woman are the ones to suffer, and so, they do take precaustions.

If it comes to that, a canister of mace will help a whole lot more than a piece of cloth.

And where might they find this mace?.

Dont get me wrong, I too agree that men are responcible for their actions, as are woman, but that does'nt change anything.
