I'm not sure if this is the right section for this. And it's not about ESP. biggrin.gif

I was thinking recently, is it impossible to imagine a sense besides taste, touch, hear, smell, and sight? If someone was blind from birth, how could they even begin to understand what it means to see something? Are our brains so weak we cannot imagine this?

Poseidon, it's a common misconception that we only have 5 senses. We already have six and there is a good case for arguing that we have as many as eleven. The sixth that I'm aware of is 'Kinaesthesia', which is the instant sense of where all our limbs are at any given moment in time. I don't mean in the sense of touch or sight, I mean you know where your leg is without using any of your other senses don't you?

Might I remind you, also, of Helen Keller who was not only born blind, but deaf as well. And with the help and patience of her teacher she became not only a productive part of our society, but an example that still inspires other physically challenged people all around the world!LOL:D

That is very interesting, isn't it true that our brains block that sense out when we aren't paying attention to it so we aren't overloaded with information?

Also, would you consider thought a sense? Being able to think abstractly maybe?

Since your not actually seeing the object in fron of you, your seeing how you perceive the object infront of you they could still 'see' stuff, what they would see since they have no comparison is an entirely different question.

No thought is not a sense, a sense is a mechanism that perceives externel stimuli and runs it through various receptors like the NMDA receptors.
