Do you guys think racism will still be around 50 years from now?

Rasicm isn't a trend. I'm sure alot of it comes from growing up in bad environments where such rediculous ideas are practiced and taught, and that a better world wide education would help a whole heap. But then there's the ideology of it where you hate 'weakness' and try to put a face on it. Or a colour. Or anything really. Rasicm in that sense I think will last as long as we do.

Racism is a weakness of most people - many of them are consciously unaware of it, and there is no reason to believe it will disappear. I see racism as a disgusting trait of human beings, just as much as I see religious belief an anthropological disease.

And I see your attitude toward those of us with spiritual convictions as A KIND OF RACISM.

I think that within 50 years, the law of love will have been written indelibly on our hearts and being angry without cause will be a serious infraction.

What we need is a major event to bring us all together and to the realisation that we are all the same........bring on the alien invasion!!

People are free to have racist and religious convictions; nobody can just end both idealogies so simply. My point was that I see both things as a weakness of human beings. Racism is a sickening, intellectually crippling weakness of many people, just as spiritual/religious convictions are diseases among many kinds of cultures and societies. I know very well neither are going to disappear with time, but I still have every reason to see both things that way.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...racism is a pigment of the imagination. Only when we deal with the reality will we get close to stamping it out.

Actually, imho, that will 'merely' be THE BEGINNING OF HORRORS worse than Hitler's.

All will be coerced to join the one world 'philosophy' supported by the one world government.

All else will first be considered old fashioned.

Then calculated step by calculated step--all dissent on such matters will be attempted to be totally eradicated--in the name of the public good, of course--or "for the children"--in Shrillery's words. Recall the Chinese Cultural Revolution when all the "old's" were trashed, destroyed, tortured. That was a good dry run for the puppet masters.

Most fiercely assaulted will be (ooops wrong forum) Umbrella group 1; Very particularly subgroup 1 and very especially sub-subgroup 1--my subgroup.

Yes. As long as there will he humans, there will be ignorance and racism is a type of ignorance.

there are different types of racism.. some have mellowed with education.. but will persist in some people.
some type of racism will always be present in my opinion... its part of how our mind organizes its experiences. we define (as someone briefly mentioned) in group and out group on some level and it has to be a meaningful level otherwise the mind wont accept it. so, we form groups based on religion, race, citizenship, etc.

I think the type of racism that says "well.. race X is not as intellectually advanced" is on its way out.. but people will continue to be racist more on cultural perceptions..

In addition to the evil in the heart of all mankind, the sort of hatered that you speak of, I think, originates in horrid early child rearing.
