My bf's son has to do a survey for school with the above question. He needs to know what Christianity means to you in 30 words or less and your occupation. If any one would be kind enough to give an answer it would help him out immensely. You can PM me with the details if you so wish.

This kind of question should only be answered by someone who is capable of answering it without the help of someone else. It kind of sounds like the teacher is doing this for her own study or something, like to see what people who know nothing about christianity think. I mean why would you ask someone to write 30 words of what somthing means to you on somthing they know nothing about, makes no sense.

Christianity is unique in the fact that Jesus Christ was an approachable God and walked among us on the Earth. No other major religion has anything like that.

Chritianity is the ideal to which man and woman were to aspire to. Goodness and Light to which man and woman has totally failed to achieve thus far. I think the aliens would agree too!

Doesn't mean much to me coz I wasn't brought up as a chrisitian and as far as I'm concerned, Chrisitianity is just another religion on the long list of different world wide religions.

Christianity is just another story explaining how the universe and humanity came to be.

We have absolutely no way of knowing how everything came into existence so we come up with stories, myths, and theorys to try to satisfy our need to know.

Christianity, by the most generalized definition, is following the philosophies and teachings of Jesus Christ. "Christ" meaning Annointed One. It is the belief that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross to atone for the sins of mankined, and rose again to be back with His Father (God) in Heaven. I have also heard that to be a Christian is to be "Christ-like". Since Christ lived a sinless life, we are to aspire to follow in this path, even though a blameless life is not obtainable. By dying on the cross, Jesus interceded on our behalf.

Thanks for your responses guys. I think what he needs to know is what it means personally to you, whether you are a part of the religion or not, like I gave the answer of "I think religion is a means of brainwashing people to do good in their lives so they wont go to hell instead of doing good for the sake of humanity", or something along those lines. I will give him your responses so far, I'm sure he will very appreciative of them.

Interesting survey.

IMO Christianity is one of the few religions that teaches how people should treat one another, and have a very close rather than distant relationship with God.

Swissv2, I gather by I watch's post that it is for the boy to get opinions from different people about what christianity means to them and it's not uncommon for parents or friends to ask other adults for such opinions and then to pass them onto the child. Actually, surverys like that can be pretty stupid, coz teacher's do expect then to have opinions from other adults besides their parents, and some kids aren't in a position to get such opinions themselves.

Same as I thought it was pretty dumb once a teacher asked kids to go out every night and watch and record where the moon was in the sky for a week. Lo and behold, the poor child who can't see the moon from their backyards because of huge gum trees forming a canopy. Or the child who lives in apartment and not be able to see it from a window there. Too bad, some of the kids had to go out into the streets to see such, even when the moon didn't rise til well after 9pm and to some kids, that also past their bed time. One wonders then why parents have to do it for them sometimes just so their child can get a mark and not get into 'trouble' for not doing their homework.

Owhhh blimey! ... you didn't have to edit out your post... it was a good post... Anyway I still happen to have a copy of the original up on another tab... hehe... and what you said in there was very valid in most cases when kids have this type of survey homework.

I was just making an additional type comment coz it's just that sometimes kids are asked to do stuff by teacher's which when at home isn't as simple as some teacher's think and some teachers who don't have children themselves, can't foresee some of the problems their students can encounter.

In reality, until I Watch posts again, I have no idea what the situation is with this one...

Christianity is a chosen restored ETERNAL RELATIONSHIP with God Almighty by His Spirit through His Son who cared enough to shed his life-blood legally covering my flaws, rebellions, idolatries.

For me, Christianity is a religion that has brought thousands of years of tension, hostility, hatred and ignorance down on my people and so it isactually a scary thing for me and something I am still afraid of particularly when someone calls themself a "good Christian". That is the truth. It scares me. On the other hand if it gives people comfort and inspires them and teaches them to be good to others and pursue a good and honest life, I am happy for the people it gives comfort to and respect their beliefs.

Those who call themselves a "good Christian" but is hypocritical and demeaning to people of other religions (especially Jews) IMO is a "horrible Christian".

btw rube, is there a good english translation of the Torah you could recommend? I am interested in checking it out for my research piece I am doing in another thread (yours smile.gif ) --> http://www.alien-ufos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11449
