i always wanted to read a novel about a guy who rose to power and took over a government....and lots of wars and stuff......does anyone know of a novel like that???? you know something like where a guy is a nobody but takes over the country and attacks other countries...i tried to search for a book like this but can never find one....and im sure they exist.

Just read the life-story of Stalin or Fidel Castro or Che Guevara or Winston Churchill or George Bush (I & II) or William Wallace or Napoleon or Robert The Bruce or the list is endless.......

well, hopefully, if that is the sort of book you want to read, in about 20 years pick up my life story, hopefully i'll be the next julius ceasar, without the 20 odd stab wounds preferably

Read a book about Adolf Hitler in WW2.

All of the biographies listed would work.

Or, just read "Dune."

hmmm....the key words here are novel....i want a story not a biography...u guys all listed valid people who fit the description but im actually looking for a novel where a character rises to such power....i dont want a information book or "so and so was born on 815 and did this and that" type of book.

I said it once, but I'll say it again. Read the whole Dune series.
