I had just made my post in the UFO & Alien TV shows thread (here)
I was just going to watch the second TV programme , but I got distracted on the way...

I quickly gazed out of the window and noticed a group of lights moving slowly across the sky. They were sparkling at a very fast rate, I could say that they were flashing madly.
Realising that normal aircraft don't have lights like this, I went to get my camera (It's got a high quality movie mode and a large zoom lens).
On arriving back at the window I checked to see if the lights were still there. They were, but were moving slowly behind a tree. In about 5 seconds they were gone.
I wasn't really bothered about this sighting, who would be? It could have been just about anything other than a UFO.

I continued scanning the sky, seeing if I could see anything else of interest.
A little white light caught my attention, it was moving slowly and was near to the moon. It just white, there were no other lights. It was not being distorted by the gases in the atmosphere like most of the other stars were, so I'm guessing that it was relatively close.
It was still moving slowly, then for no obvious reason it started accelerating. It travelled across my field of vision in a matter of seconds, I was amazed at it's speed! It stopped abruptly, hovered and seemed to fade away.

I can tell you now that I wasn't watching a shooting star or comet, this thing didn't have a tail, was able to hover and accelerate.

I have never seen anything move so quickly in my life...It was very strange. I don't know what's happening up there, so I'm going back to see what I can see.

Looking forward to your next post about this, UFO Hunter. Considering where you live, if this is where you saw them, I'm all ears. It's always that amazing speed, way faster than any plane and the stop, hover and fade that make a sighting truly .......a valuable sighting.

Wishing you all camera luck.

As you already know, I didn't see anything else strange last night.

I will be keeping a lookout tonight for these lights again, I doubt I will see anything but it's worth a try smile.gif

I just saw two lights which I would regard as strange. One of them was quite large and I was able to film it.

It moved along near the moon, when it had gone past the moon it turned left.
I decided to try to take a photo of it, I stopped filming and found the object on the screen.
I zoomed in a bit more, I noticed that I couldn't see it on the my camera's screen...I thought because I could have zoomed past it. So I looked at the sky and it had gone!

Any comments would be appreciated.

The other light was dim. It appeared in Cassiopeia, moved a bit and faded away.

Interesting photo, Hunter, and though I saw the still-shot, I couldn't get it to play as a video. Now, is the large circular light to the upper left the object in question? I also see the smaller light to the lower right, but it seems to be star-like in appearance.

The object to the left is the moon. If you can watch the rest of the video, you will see that the object turns to the left just as it has moved past the moon.
It looks a bit like a star on the video, but comparing it to the moon, it appears to be quite large.

It is a shame that I had already stopped recording by the time it dissapeared, being able to capture the moment at which it fades out would really be something.

Are you saving the video to your computer, or watching it straight off the internet?

I saved it, Hunter, it's asking for a RealPlayer download, but then says that the download is not available. My pc skills are lacking, though and there may be something I can do to play it. Seems to be unable to download what's needed to play "avi" video.

Oh my gosh, I downloaded the second one and got it to play. That is amazing, Hunter! Folks , you have to take a look at this. This light has the two characteristics of unexplainable flying objects, erratic movement and speed that are very much unlike conventional aircraft.

Nice work, UFO HUnter.

Im no photo genius, i give this vid 2 thumbs way up  !

But, what bugs me is why it makes so many odd turns and movements at break neck speeds. Testing the atmosphere? Testing the craft? :dunno: :dunno: :concussed :concussed

I must say that it's only during the first part of the video when the object is nearing the moon that you can actually see how it's moving.
The rest of the video is me zoomed in with a joggy hand.
This is important: the object (apart from when it made it's turn) was travelling smoothly and gracefully.

UFOs - two nights in a row.
Either, these are natural (and explainable) occurances therefore they occur almost every day. Or East Anglia is experiencing a UFO wave...

Understood, Hunter. Still, the turns and speed are remarkable.

Good vid... You should get a tri-pod and sit around outside waiting for it to hopefully return. It would be much easier to see what that thing is doing exactly.

It still appears to me, to be something not easily explainable. Good job!

It's pretty odd seeing things like that so frequently isn't it? It's happened to me before, too. For about a month this summer, you could go out just about any night and see something strange like that.

I got so worked up about it, I couldn't even sleep anymore.

Thankyou to everyone for your interesting and supportive comments.

I will of course be skywatching for an hour or so tonight, with my camera.
I will keep you updated.

If I see one of these lights again, I really will be amazed.

I have some news, it's disappointing.

I went out there for another look tonight, I saw something moving near the moon, it was too small to be captured on camera but was moving quickly.

This is the bad part - The footage which I posted yesterday is not of a UFO.
Basically, I saw the same object, do the same thing, at the same place.
I saw the bright light at about 6:53PM (GMT). I checked my watch as I was watching it.

Something didn't seem right, straight from the start. It wasn't moving quickly (unlike the other objects) and made smooth turns. I had my doubts right from the start.

I checked www.heavens-above.com, just to find that there is a large satellite (ISS) which passes right over England at that exact time.

As for the object dissapearing, it did the same thing tonight. I don't know how satelittes do this, perhaps they just turn their lights off.

On the video you may notice that the object appears to make rapid movements, but only at certain places in the video. Go through the video again.
Pay attention to when I zoom in, when I zoom out and how the object appears to speed up...Notice anything? I did, and it's as simple as this:
When I zoom out, the space between the moon and the light is halved, which gives the impression that the light is getting closer to the moon!

It wasn't speeding up at all, and that's why I said this:
"This is important: the object (apart from when it made it's turn) was travelling smoothly and gracefully."

I'm sorry to dissapoint you all, but I suppose it's better than thinking that I filmed UFO when really it was a satelitte.

As for the other objects (see first post and top of this post), I am labelling them unexplained. They moved with immense speed, unlike anything I have seen before.
It's just a shame that a genuine sighting had to be mixed up with something totally irrelevant like a satelitte.

I couldn't have been more correct.
