Well, that has absolutely nothing to do with Liverpool or the F.A cup final itself but Mexico do have a good chance of qualifying, although Portugal will probably be favourites to win the group!

England to lift the trophy no doubt about that biggrin.gif

Stevie Gerrard and co to do the nation proud.

I really hope England go out in the first round. That way all the publicity about the competition will die down sooner.

I guess some people are more patriotic than others. Even if i didnt like football I would still like to see the country I was born in do well in anything that they participate. Although to be honest I really get annoyed cying all these people who dont give a s### at any other time with England flags hangin out there bedroom and car windows, grrrrrr!

It doesn't matter where you find me, Australia, Scotland or England, America, Outer Mongolia or Nepal - the flag flying from my mast will always be of the finest team to grace the footballing stage - Partick Thistle FC.

And in true Partick Thistle fashion made the play offs this year - lost the first leg 1-2 then played the second leg which they were tying 1-1 and going out, when in the LAST SECOND we scored and clinched it in a penalty shootout - MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!! So first division here we come - next stop the Premier and then the doors to Europe swing open.

Good luck to your team in the final Ben. I'll be keeping tabs on the result. Also in the context of scottish teams, a big well done to Gretna should be mentioned.

I really hope the gooners, whoops I mean the gunners biggrin.gif, bring back the trophy this evening. My beloved Liverpool are obviously no longer in the competition thanks to Benfica so I think 2 english teams winning it back to back shows that the premier league kicks ass right now! Y.N.W.A

Who needs Wayne Rooney when you have Steven Gerrard? The man is going to go down as one of the greatest players ever to pull on the red shirt. It is almost a tad annoying how good he is, Liverpool have a plethora of great players at the moment - Xabi Alonso, Jamie Carragher, John Arne Riise - but Gerrard is still head and shoulders above even those, which always makes us sound like a one-man team.

The guy is just pure quality, he's got no weaknesses. When he was younger he had a small disciplinary problem, which he sorted out a long time ago! To be honest liverpool as a team play much better without him in the side, because they know that he wont be able to bail them out like he does time after time. I just hope he can have a great world cup, then he really can show that he's the best midfield player in the world, if not the best player alongside Ronaldinho and Henry. Oh and Igor Biscan biggrin.gif

Biscanaldo was actually a very good player, it's just that under Houllier he wasn't used properly. Under Rafa he started to show that he did possess quality and that he could do a very good job for the team. If he'd have had another year left on his contract I'm sure Rafa would have probably not let him go, but I think we got in a hugely impressive replacement in Momo Sissoko.

Sissoko is the man biggrin.gif when he improves on keeping the ball a bit better, or not giving it away cheaply on the odd occasion, he will be awesome in the seasons to come. It's a shame that Stevie G has to go over to the right hand side of midfield so Rafa can play both Momo and Alonso, although the only position Gerrard may not be fantastic in is in goal, but hey maybe we should give him 90 mins there one time biggrin.gif You're right about Igor, I can remember a game against Fulham where he finished off a move with a beautiful strike from just outside the box, and he was superb in a certain champions league or european match that I dont recall, maybe it was against Deportivo La Coruna! Shadout who do you think could come in a possible signings? I think we're gonna sign one of Defoe, Kuyt or Darren Bent as a forward, although personally I would love to see either David Villa (Valencia) or even Torres (Atletico M), but both will be too expensive I feel. Other possible signings could be Pennant and Wright-Phillips for our right wing who are both good players, albeit not world class, but I would praise for lord almighty if we could get Joaquin from Real Betis!

Pennant is supposed to be in the bag in terms of having an offer accepted and everything, but apparently we are not willing to seal the deal just yet - we're waiting to see if we get our first choice winger (whomever that might be) before moving for Pennant. As far as strikers go, from what I have seen Dirk Kuyt it the bees knees, I would be pissed off if we signed Defoe. Why pay over the odds for a pale immitation of Michael Owen? I do feel that we need a striker who has pace and mobility though, Crouch and God have their good points, but we need a striker with Cissés pace but also some finishing ability to match it!
