This bit of news is rather scary. Although uncomfirmed the United States and the world should make a case to strike Iran, strike them now and strike them hard.

What the world went through between 1933 and 1945 cannot be repeated. This is appauling and sickening. Hiel Crazymannie. angry.gif

It's not substantiated as "fact" yet, though, is it?

No. Here is a page with more details about this story, with lots of links and being updated as the story progresses:

I've been reading PrisonPlanet.com, and of course it's saying the story was fabricated.

Of course. They're not going to sit back and let their allies in the Iranian regime be demonized, are they?

Being against the US does NOT necessarily make you an ally of our enemies.

I hate the US government, but I'm not also fond of Iran's guy either. To be honest, I wouldn't be shocked at all if these reports of him doing that were true. Still doesn't mean it's the US's problem.

You have to remember that the US is looking for ANY excuse to go to war with Iran. I personally think it would start another world war, but that's for another topic.

I am reminded yet again of George Orwell:

Even though I loved his book, 1984, I am inclined to disagree with that comment.

You can be against two opposing sides.

I'm surprised that an Iranian vote of the parliament is so hard to verify! That's inconceivable in Western countries. Seems they all have to base themselves on this or that magazine or journalist having heard some rumour that there was a parliament decision.

This concept you have raised is far from a new concept in the Islamic world. Jews and Christians in Islamic societies were known as dhimmis or second class citizens. Jews and Christians were considered " People of the Book " and so were allowed to practice their religion but were segregated. Al Mawardi in the 11th century was responsible for the enactment of laws regarding Christians and Jews in the Muslim world such as;

1- they couldn't touch the Koran
2-speak negatively about Islam
3-touch Muslim women
4-turn Muslims against their own faith.

It was based on the above laws or edicts that Jews were required to wear yellow sashes adn Christians blue sashes.

Churches or synagogues were not allowed to be taller then mosques.

Christians and Jews were not allowed to own horses.

Neither faith could engage in their religious rituals in public or of course drink wine in public.

They also had to pay special discriminatory taxes; a head tax called a djezya and a property tax called kharaj.

Jews and Christians were required to live in segregated ghettos called mellahs.

Interestingly in the Islamic world, Jews had a much higher literacy rate then their Muslim counterparts.

The above Islamic laws still prevail in most of the Middle East and have always existed. Its nothing new.

You people act like Iran just came up with this idea. Its been around since Islam began.

The above discrimination then deviated or evolved taking on characteristics of European anti-semitism.

However Islam has always considered Judaism and Christianity to have distorted the truth and so its followers are considered inferior and mistaken.

In the Islamic world there is no seperation of state from religion.
