Okay, so I know that orbs are weird little semi-transparent balls or bubbles that appear on photos from time to time. I know the typical scientific explanations of orbs (glare), but what are the paranormal explanations of orbs?
The reason is that I took a series of photos using a digital camera, all photos within a couple of days. All photos were normal ... except that one had an orb over one of the people in the picture (there were about 15-18 people in the picture as I recall). The orb was located about where the abdomen meets the chest. Photo was taken in a largish room with lots of windows. Partly cloudy day, lights on, curtains open. |

Im pretty certain it's dust. Sorry I know it sounds pretty cool and all; floating spheres of magic energy, but you can recreate orbs in pictures with small dust particles easily.
It is also a misunderstanding that film is superior in detecting things that the human eye can not. I don't know for cetain if there aren't some things that film can see better, but human vision is definately far more light sensitive than film. With a cheap camera you can't take good shots of stars at a nightsky, but your eyes can see them. BTW nice avatar. I luv psychedelic! |

Yeah, dust pretty well reigns in the room where the picture was taken. No, I'm just curious what the paranormal explanation is supposed to be, since I've heard and read the term 'orbs' batted about. Is it (said to be) energy? Spirits? ?
mr-e. PS thanks for the comment on the avatar. It's a kooky avatar, but I like it. I use an older art program that mass produces weirdness. |

I think they are supposed to be either alien energy manifestations, ghosts, or lifeforms composed of energy, it depends who you ask.

One person even said that the orbs are really fast insects. He said he would prove it by catching a few. I think that was like 5 years ago.

I have no real opion yet on the orb subject.
I would like to point out that cameras are indeed superior in ways the eye is not, when it comes to catching images the eye does not see. Fast moving objects are just one. |

Me? I think they are nothing more than manifestations of light and particulates inside the lens. Ben |

Yeah and that's one of those rare areas where a camera is indeed better than the human eye - but like I say it's one of those 'rare' areas.... Ben |

well most orbs you see in photos of out side and inside are eather dust or moisture. Theres rarely a real orb anymore Plus i probaly disprove orbs being spirits. Plus you get an orb what is it gonna prove to paranormal activity. But and orb is basicaly a ball of energy. so when you see a orb in a photo don't automaticaly assume there is some kind paranormal activity going on.

Orbs caught on cameras can be many things. And as each orb could be any number of things, I find it difficult to rule any of those things out. Though I'm certain that debunkers have no difficulties in absolutely ruling each and every orb to be a photo defect or balls of dust (that being so because they are fond of making assumptions based on personal convictions rather than evidence). For a more logical approach, however, it is important to look toward supportive evidence when considering the nature of an orb.

Yup, like old houses seem to contain more, But that could be either dust because its untouched and old
Or spirts because its touched by human activitys |

Funny Last night I thought of a new post on Orbs and hear is a new post as I opened this forum on this very thing.
Last night I wrote this down Are these Orbs a manifestation of Pure (electricity)energy which the naked eye cannot see but of course a camera will, and if an orb is a localised form could it cause Human Combustion? You know how the areas of human combustion are localised to the person and chair or just part of the carpet. What is these-real orbs not the dust ones etc...are in fact condensed forms of energy/electricity and could they combust in a small area such as a person and what they are sitting on etc..??? Which is why human combustion is very rare and so are the real orbs? Just a thought I had last night... |

Yes, TC...I think that in some instances some orbs may be sparks of geothermal ball lightning. I also tend to think that ball lightning is responsible for many UFO sightings and, quite possibly, crop circles. Of course, balls have been known to behave strangely...as if they may be conscious of their activities...sounds strange I know but many of the reports that I have read indicate this.

Anything an average camera will see, a human will see, it takes a very expensive camera weith a very fast shutter speed to see a bullet. A camera would not see 'pure energy' better than the human eye because they are both registering nearly the same wavelengths.
As for the lightning balls you would see it with your eye too, also due to the rarity of them it couldn't account for that many orbs in pictures. |
