I recently saw the preview for the new black dahlia film that is going to be in theatres soon. Interesting story...mistery that is, does anyone have any theories here? I'm interested to know if anyone has studied this?:headscrat

Theories about what? It was simply a case of a serial murderer, albeit a flamboyant one that flirted with the media, who ended up eluding police to this day.

The Black Dahlia, you say?

I've been a member of this forum for a few months now, and have mostly been a watcher, but the subject of Elizabeth Short (Miss Dahlia) has always wet my appetite and I can't help but put my two cents in.

Not much to say about the murder? That doesn't sound quite right, considering that not only has this case alluded the police for decades, it has also sparked up numerous media frenzies -- why?.. Not because it has never been solved, I think, but more likely, it is because Beth Short was an interesting woman, one who deserved her recognition, though perhaps in such a seriousness as what happened to her. She was connected with almost everyone in Hollywood, though she never lived quite long enough to shake off her reputation as a piece of candy, for both men and women, and make herself a star, the way she had always dreamed. Because her life was cut off so short, and far too soon, she is very easy to relate to and have empathy for, beyond of course, feeling sorry for anyone murdered in such a gruesome fashion.
Elizabeth did, however, in the end, get what she wanted most -- acknowledgement.

Though my interest has very little to do with Beth herself, and more to do with the behavior of those who were completely uninvolved in the case, though claimed to have everything to do with it. It is indeed and almost funny irony, how many people were so very quick to proclaim themselves the killer of the beautiful woman. Some may have been cut-up dead-girl groupies, while others were simply trying to get back at their past-lovers by accusing them of homicide, it is however very intriguing what people will do for a little attention. If it weren't for the false leads and wild goose-hunts, I believe the killer may have been found, as with many cold cases such as this.

I guess the moral of my post is that society is sometimes too black themselves to be helpful.

Haha, I got the Black Dahlia confused with the Zodiac killer.

Its cool Kiku, don't worry about it. I just found this mystery interesting, I never really looked into the subject until recently so I don't know a whole hell of a lot about it. I read the story online and saw the photos of her body when it was discovered; absolutely gruesome. I think that dude was right though, the public can be too black and morbidly obsessed for the real killer to be caught, take John Mark Karr and the Jon Bonet case; god damn idiot.

They've discovered that Karr's DNA was no match.
Total shocker, eh?

Divvy, you've made a great point.
People who don't murder but want the public to think they did it.
It’s like a strange symbiotic relationship.

When I heard that they had "caught" her killer (Jon Benet), I wasn't too excited about it, because I think most of us have the idea that her actual killer isn't going to randomly pop up out of nowhere and admit to the whole ghastly thing.

As for Dahlia, her killer is likely already dead. A true cold case.

The superman case is a good mystery as well, how about the guy played on HOGANS HEROES, I can't think of his name right off the top of my head.. bob something maybe? Well anyway, killer was never caught, the murder was totally brutal.. ITs a shame but it creates great mystery and skepticism.
