I downloaded Simple Viewer - a free flash photo album program, which works with Picasa (a free Google photo organiser program - get it - it's brilliant!), and made this album of our recent trip to New Zealand. If you want a painless way of making a cool album, get these programs. /advert

I think I've already posted a couple of these pics. Mary (Silverglance), Ben and I went to NZ for three days. If we'd known how lovely it was we would have stayed longer. We're all hoping to go back the same time next year and hire a motorhome for a week. We stayed in Auckland and went south to the Waitomo glow worm caves, and then tried to get to Rotorua but got waylaid at the cosy bar at the NZ ski fields. I can't rave enough about the gorgeous scenery in NZ - it really is as spectacular as it looks in the LOTR films. I don't think I took enough photos to really do it justice, but to get an idea of the place you can have a squiz at these:

That is a nifty little program.
Cool!

And I'm telling ya (as Mary must have already said) when you live in America, nothing looks like that.

It's amazing.

Yeah, Mary was amazed at how 'verdant' Brisbane was when she got here - and we were in the middle of a drought here and everything seemed brown and dry to me. California must be a dust bowl if drought stricken Brisbane is considered green!

Huh uh...Lucy you are right!
America is a huge dust bowl -kinda makes ya feel "dirty" just being here.

I remember seeing an episode of Xena and being blown away by all the "Green."

Well, parts look quite lush - Kentucky etc looks pretty green to me. You have amazing diversity there. Ben and I are going to visit Mary some day and I'm really looking forward to looking around. It seems to me that the US as a tourist location has the same problem as Australia - it is so big that 'must sees' are dotted all over the place and take ages to get to. Travel inside Oz is pretty expensive, so seeing places like the Opera House, Ayers Rock, and the Great Barrier Reef proves expensive all in one trip. New Zealand and the Uk are cool to travel to because they're so small - you can go from one end of the country to the other in a day.

Well..
If you ever hit Iowa, let me know.

America can be absolutely beautiful.
But nothing, nothing is like where you come from.

Yes, it takes does a week to go from Calli to Maine.

I'm thinking Iowa is like Little House on the Prairie, grassy farmland - am I right?

Yep, please post your pics. Did you travel around both the North and South islands, and if you did, is the landscape similar on both islands?

That is breathtaking. Mary's shown us some pics she took of the Grand Canyon - they were amazing but I bet any photo just doesn't do it justice compared to being there amongst the real thing.

Yep, and it amazes me it is such a secret gem - I don't think they get all that many tourists despite being one of the most beautiful parts of the world. That's probably a good thing that it's relatively void of tourists so perhaps I had better shut up about it!
