I know this has been covered before in other threads, but I thought the commentary made on this video is something worth pondering on.

Now, normally I don't get paranoid about things, but this is the thought that has been going through my head.
What if this law is not about treating terrorists as enemy combatants? What if this is just the foundation for future treatment of any U.S. citizen who criticizes the governments actions, like for example, what if some unfortunate event allows George Bush to remain in office after his term is up? You'll have some people outraged, protesting, etc. Will they be treated as enemy combatants to be made examples of? Question us (government) and this is what will happen to you. I hope I'm very wrong. |

Thank the rest of the citizens who bought and went along with the new extension of executive power under the phony guise of the "threat of terrorism" and "defending the homeland." It's both depressing and amazing how people don't see through it.

I wonder how long it will be before Tony Blair introduce's it here. I once heard sometime ago by David Icke that this was going to happen. Every one laughed at him and called him a crack pot. Who's the crack pot and who's laughing now! Welcome to the NWO.

People called Icke a crackpot because of his reptilian conspiracy gibberish and his believe to be the son of god, amongst other things. Predictions of increasing authoritariansim were never unique to Icke. |

He never actually said 'He was the son of god'. What he said was 'We are all the son's of god,. It was the media that said that. You should know by now how good the media are at twisting things around.

I remember him saying he was "the son of the Godhead." Second, there is no NWO now and probably never will be, so there's no need to be so dramatic.

Well, the long and short of it is that David Icke is a god damned flake, regardless of his predictions of increasing authoritarianism and whether or not he claimed to be the son of god.

Looks like you don't like him then. He seems to have a large following. But I suppose with your views they are flake's as well. |

Don't forget we're listening to Keith Olberman, here, a decidedly left-leaning presenter. Personally, I agree with him and Olberman's always been a favorite of mine. I recommend his excellent book, "The Worst Person in the World: and 202 Strong Contenders":
http://www.buzzflash.com/store/items/325 Here's more from Olberman: http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/101906L.shtml No, in my opinion, Olberman isn't exagerating by much in the name of making a strong presentation. The quotes he cites from Kennedy, Leahy and Feingold are right on. Yes, this is indeed a "serious, fundamental change" in the US. Torture up to organ failure or death...war crime, come on, this "law" is more than immoral, more than hideous. There is already a Wikipedia entry on this, The Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_Comm...ons_Act_of_2006 This from the White House, on the need for this Act, Sept. 6, 2006: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/20...20060906-3.html Here's a member of the US Congress from the state of Ohio who supports the Act: http://www.house.gov/list/press/oh02_schmidt/tribunals.html Here's a view page from Amnesty Int'l: http://web.amnesty.org/library/index/ENGAMR511542006 Here seems to be a copy of the bill itself: http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:uuPWe...k&cd=5&ie=UTF-8 Comment on "unchecked powers": http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?ItemID=11095 Mary |

Alex Jones will probably end up in gitmo before Olbermann! Another spin on this whole thing is the fact that its so easy to dismiss folks like this that start running off there mouths as ungrateful, unpatriotic, left sided nut job's! I guess its easy for folks to pretend that everything is peachy, and hey I am willing to loose a few rights to feel safer, and more protected. Are we really safer now than we were pre 911? What freedoms, what rights are we going to loose next in the name of national security? |

It's a case of life imitating art.
I remember watching that movie Vendetta thinking, "how could this ever happen, people would not allow such a thing to happen in the first place". People constantly being reminded that we must give up our civil liberties in order to protect the homeland is the mechanism by which such a scenario could and looks like will happen. |
