For a good understanding of the treaty of Versailles one needs to understand the reparations demanded of Germany....basically the Allies wanted compensation from the Germans for the cost of the war - the Germans agreed, but the payments were destroying Germany's economic ability to recvoer form the war. To say that their economy was destroyed would be an understatement. A simple loaf of bread could cost as much as a WHEELBARROW full of money. Sometimes by the time workers were paid, the money would have devalued by as much as ten times in the time it took to go form the hand of the person paying to the hand of the person receiving....It's no surprise that Germany had to find a way out of this and the Allies really couldn't see they were forcing Germany towards another inevitable outcome - war.
Check this out for a brief overview - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Versailles Ben |

The british PM (David Lloyd George) Did know that they were forcing germany in wanting to get revenge later on, But the publics opinon shifted them into favouring the france way, to annialhate them..., And well its hard for him to argue back, The Lost generation, And with fran just going, "Look at it", Pointing towards the River Some and other massive battle sites and destroyed citys
Ya, It'd have been easier if we didnt take the Rhienland and Saur of them. , I know about the repairations, and how, hmm was it 6 billion? Yeah, Dam lot for a country thats had no other option to accept, or be completly buryed by some pissed of french man (Clemaneau or how its spelt)Hehe, No wonder germany was pissed off and wanted to taken over the world not 20 years later, Hmmm... There was 3 options on how to treat them, Not be to hard, The woodrow way, Hurt them, but not too much.. The Lloyd george way, And the french, To make sure that they'd NEVER be able to do it again, and even split into states... Too bad, We had 2/3 Chance of picking the one that couldve avoided the whole Nazi problem. EDIT: Wow!, im proud of myself lol, Most of the stuff, I read after I post and think its a crock load of crap, But that, Im proud ive learnt all that (+more) and how to annalise sources in just 5 week |
