The Earth is a rotating ball that is not completely solid and can bulge. Global warming is causing the greenland ice pack to melt and the Earth is losing a lot of mass (weight) in the area of greenland. On the opposite side of the Earth from Greenland is the Australian plate. The 2004 Tsunami was caused by the Indian plate moving under the Australian plate or the (burma microplate region).
The Earth being a rotating ball, the lessening of the weight at greenland, as it melts, is causing the Australian plate region to bulge with centrifugal force, because it is no longer counterbalanced by greenland. This is lifting up the Australian plate allowing the Indian plate to move under it faster. Thus causing the earthquake and tsunami. Another major quake happened in the region since then. I believe this region and the whole Indian plate rim will continue to be an increasingly active earthquake region as greenland continues to melt with global warming.
Earth quakes generally happen within a short while after eclipses of the sun or moon. So, if a total eclipse passes over the region of the Indian plate or Australian plate, look for a major earthquake within about 2 months after that.

Not likely. The weight of greenland is still there just some of it shifted into the water when the ice melted. There would be no way that could shift an entire plate.

Not to mention that ice packs are getting THICKER, even though losing mass at the edges.

Was this an earthquake creation experiment that ran out of control? Many countries are working on methods of creating massive earthquakes as means to defeat the enemy. The technologically advanced countries are working on this project. ...Check out the rest of this story at...

Also check this out..Back in 1945 the OSS (forerunner of the present-day CIA) planned to bring the "unbridled brutality of Japanese troops" under control by use of artificially triggered earthquakes. "If we could could get (an atom) bomb within a mile of a point on a fault line (trench) destined to break within 90 years we might set it off...

wen....an atomic bomb of that era could not cause an impact deep enough to set off an earth quake....and it would have to be in thye fault about 5 to 10 miles deep and be about 100 MT to do anything...such bombs did not exist back then

Well what about the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 that was estimated to have been around 100 Mt.

wen....the bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima...the 15 Kt "uranium gun" little boy bomb and the bomb dropped on Nagasaki...the 21Kt "implosion" fat man bomb were not theromnuclear weapons.

The largest thermonuclear weapon detonated by the US was 15.8 Mt and the largest of all times was by the Soviet Union on October 30 1961 with a yield of 50 MT....there has never been a test larger....but designs have reached up to 1,000 Mt.

Ah folks....I remember it well (the tsunami that is)....but I don't want to sound like a loony.

Just be aware that the night before the earthquake I was sitting here posting that the most incredible lights and explosions were being witnessed around the Pacific rim....I guess if you searched this forum you'd find those posts. I think even the Indonesian army were put on full alert and sent out to find out what those 'lights' were.....then of course - Earthquake and Tsunami and the news of the 'lights and explosions' was washed from the news pages.....

It still frustrates me that even now I can find little record of the 'follow up' (If there was any given the crisis at the time)....

Ben.....I don't remember any of these lights or explosions in the US prior to the earthquake and Tsunami.....mind you the pacific rim includes all the countries that surround the Pacific which includes north and South America...and the entire ring of fire
