Probably a made-up, or at best exxagerated beyond any archaeological reality story.

Alright.....

I'll say it, before someone else does....

"Hey! I don't think that's a real photo!"

Anyway, If it ever existed, I don't believe the exact height was recorded.

Will it surprise anyone here to know that the ‘guesstimated’ height of the Tower of Babel ranges from about 300 feet to over 40,000 feet!!! ~rore

The narrative in the book of Genesis does not mention how tall the Biblical tower was, and it has traditionally not been much of a subject of debate

it would be interesting to know if any earth bulge exists that might suggest location of tower - being made out of bricks that had been burned and tar youd think there might be some evidence but maybe not - i thought maybe it could have been dismantled (when they were scattered because of confusion of language ) to make homes or other structures nearby but they stopped building the city so the bricks not likely used for that , so maybe the bricks were transported to other locations around the earth but that seems like a heavy load but who knows.

I don't think the bible says it took 3 days to climb it. I think it was only a few stories before God destroyed it. Obviously it wouldn't have ever reached the clouds because wood and adobe structures can only reach so high before they collapse from their own weight. I think God destroyed it based on principles alone.

If there was anything left then I would imagine there is some remains. They're pretty sure they found the walls of Jericho. (I think it was Jericho sp). I watched one of those Bible history shows on the History Channel.

This is surprising to me: “Jericho is believed by some to be the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the world; excavations indicate three separate settlements have existed at or near the current location for more than 11,000 years. “ ~rore

Come on now it was one big colonizing ship to earth of many of our ancestors!:tease:

Actually The Tower of Babel according to records of Sumeria-Babylon was the Hebrew invented legend. It in reality was the City of Babylon itself of King Subathu's city Mathura. Babylon is the Semetic front part of the name of this city they called Bab-ili or The Gate of God.

No real connection with the invented Hebrew myth of Babel and the confusion of tongues. Can't even stand up to my girlfriend alone without confusion of tongues and get whacked..rolleyes.gif

The real name of Babylon only came into existance during the first Baylonian Dynasty and before that time by Sargon' great great grandson Gani 11, with Babylon also called on the tablets as Ka-ash-ra or Ka-an-ra. Both offical names were continued right down to the last Baylonian King Nabonid.

It was only after the over throw of the Kassi Dynasty by the Semites, was Nebuchadnezzer of the 4th Babylonian dynasty, a Kaladean serpent worship religion was establshed until the later over throw by the later Persians.

ref. "Makers of Civilization by Waddell.

So the confusion was in fact the overthrow of the Kassi ( Cassi ) (Rulers of The Sea) dynasties.

Its not unreasonable to think that a tower actually existed. Considering that the ancient Sumerians are historically known to have built such towers (ziggurats). In fact, it is highly likely that the Tower of Babel is none other than the ziggurat of Eridu. As it is likely that, historically, Nimrod (builder of Babel) is the same figure as Enmerkar, king of Uruk and builder of the ziggurat of Eridu. It is known that the Hebrews adopted stories and myths from older cultures.

4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. Gen 11:4

Considering that 'ziggurat' literally means 'a stairway reaching up to heaven'...

If there's a bustle in your hedgrow, don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring clean for the May Queen
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run,
There's still time to change the road you're on.

If you don't get it, don't worry about it. wink.gif
