This has just happened here in Australia, it was widely reported on all the news media. I also listened to an interview with one of the rescue crew who was one of the first people dropped on board by helicopter when the boat was located, and he says that all of the life vests and the tender were still on board and not used.

This sounds pretty weird, I wonder if they'll find the crew.

I also wasn't sure whether to post it under this topic or not.

Anyway, here's a link to one of the news articles:

LOL Well given that no-one knows where they are - sticking it in the Alien experiences thread is stretching it a bit lol - but I'm happy to leave it here just now until we read that they've all fallen overboard after trying to fix the 'shredded' mast they had.

It is weird but the sea rarely tells stories of the events therein....

Would not those breaking not only the law there, but ancient maritime laws, have takent the computers and other valuables? And if it was just an accident, why the supper? And if it was planned, as a way of disappearing, then why not make it look more like these men were dead?

I know that there will be those who ask "could this have been a case of kidnappers, or those who wished to silence these men for other reasons?"

But in the act of killing three men, there is usually not only some petty theft, but also some blood evidence.

Are killers so tidy in this day and age?

I have no solid opimioms yet, but there is room to speculate here. What did happen?

No pirates in that area that I know of. And if it was a pirate attack, they would surely loot the ship. As it is, the laptop was still on the table, and everything else was untouched. Even the food was still untouched. The torn sail has something to do with the missing crew, for sure. Perhaps a gust of wind sent them all overboard, swinging the sail, ripping it, and hitting them.

they could have entered the boat and held everyone up at gunpoint. grabbed whatever could have been on the boat (could have been jewells or documents) and then forced the victims onto their boat and sailed away only to kill them and dump them into the ocean some 50-100 miles away. Cut them up pretty bad so they attract sharks.

Pirates still exist today> i wasn't being funny. surely i didn't mean ones with eye patches and skull and crossbones. But even some of those guys do exist. alot of hispanics in south america will rob sea goers of everything they have. Some people make it a game and might actually dress up like pirates and raise a pirate flag. there is a lot of weird stuff out there in the world.

 [pirate] I agree with you on the pirate thing; these people still exist. But what some of the others have mentioned still sends me in to a quandary as well too. Why leave the laptop?

They've probably fallen overboard trying to fix the shredded mast.....one big wave or squall and three men are overboard....

Though you can't rule out pirates, as Indonesian and some of the smaller Islands around there still have them operating in that area....

Apparently the weather was quite calm at the time. I have heard of people going for a swim with their sails up and no anchor, when a sudden gust of wind took the boat away from then rather quickly.

However, in this case the engine was in gear and running at about 1 knot. The Police have examined the GPS and found that the boat was following a course until Sunday evening and then it began aimlessly following the wind and tides, until found about 80 nautical miles offshore.

A former classmate of mine was on a ship that was atacked by modern pirates. They robbed everyone. There was no murder, but one of the women on the ship has a bracelet they wanted that would not come off. They cut off her hand to get it off.

So what’s the speculation here? An ET Craft hit the mast, shredding it and took the folks off the boat to do tests on them? ~rore

The official search for the crew was called off today. There was little hope of them ever being found I guess.

This is a strange one, but probably has a simple explanation.
There were meals ready on the table, computers and motors running.
I think whatever happened to the men has something to do with the torn sail.
Maybe a freak gust of wind or wave that swept them off during repairs.
I doubt anything to do with ET's, afterall accidents do happen.
Hopefully police can find out what might've happened by taking a look at the boats GPS tracker.

Interestingly, this is the second 'ghost ship' to turn up in Australian waters in recent years. Only a few years ago, the RAN came across High Aim 6, a Tawainese fishing trawler .
And just today, a boat turned up in Queensland with keys in the ignition with papers on board and covered in barnacles.
Theres a theory it could've drifted from New Caledonia.
Weird though...

Yes, it could be a case of wanting to disappear, and be claimed lost at sea. Still, if I wanted that, I would just skuttle the ship in such a way that it would look like we had to abandon it. Or if I was trying to make it look like pirates, a bit of blood would help.

And if it really was pirates, why take them on your boat to maybe leave dna or other clues when it would be easier to shoot them on the spot? And there's no self respecting pirate that leaves valuables behind when he's gone to all the trouble of capturing a vessel.

Accidents do happen at sea. Still, it's strange for not a single one of them to take a life jacket to save a shipmate that went overboard. And the odds of all three being swept overboard by a freak wave is slim if the cabin wasn't disturbed. I mean, any wave that would sweep three sailors over the rails would surely knock the plates off the table.

NOT that I'm sounding the alarm for another alien abduction. It's just hard to se the way this could work.
