Well, that's a question, isn't it?
Does anyone have a good answer? We are trying to do our bit here Climate Armageddon, God and Aliens and also here Emergency Services. Serious. |

... and filling in time by packing up rubber boots, tents, generators and fluffy toys so the kids won't scream so much while me and the wife fight of bandits as we all sit around in the damp dark waiting for the authorities to sound the all clear.
More about this crazy act of self preservation here at Emergency Services and some entertainment here to keep us primed and ready to deal with situations as they run screaming at us here at Climate Armageddon and the God of All Aliens Love and cuddles :smokin: |

We may well be witnessing the beginning of a climate armageddon. The Earth's weather patterns appear to be changing dramatically for the worst. Global warming appears to be a major issue but the Earth's governments don't seem to be helping. They still insist on employing "fossil fuels" which eventually will deplete and run out and where will that leave us then?
Nuclear energy appears to be their "fall-back" but I don't feel that this is entirely safe. We have a huge source of virtually "free energy" which we don't appear to be taking full advantage of. I am talking about our Sun and the use of "solar energy". There doesn't appear to be any likelyhood that this power source will run out anytime in the near, or distant, future at least for another billion years or so. Add to that the use of "wind-power" employing "wind-farms" and we have an extra source of energy. Alright the wind-turbines may not look "pretty" but they give us what we want, energy without corrupting and spoiling our Planet. I have read that already governments are building, or have built, huge underground bunkers/command centres in preparation for any future ecological disaster for the "hierarchy", politicians, military personnel and other persons of "high standing". Where does that leave the rest of us, you and I, the common people, the man in the street? Are we just to be left to our own devices and hope and pray that some of us may be lucky enough to survive and start again? This is another example of "them and us" and the very thought of that "stinks to high heaven". |

This is another example of "them and us" and the very thought of that "stinks to high heaven". Thats exactly where we will be.....ON OUR OWN! -------------------- Whoever said anything was possible, obviouly never tried slamming a revolving door.

(JUSTVISITING;344864) We may well be witnessing the beginning of a climate armageddon. The Earth's weather patterns appear to be changing dramatically for the worst. For the worst in a speciocentric opinion.... (JUSTVISITING;344864) Global warming appears to be a major issue but the Earth's governments don't seem to be helping. They still insist on employing "fossil fuels" which eventually will deplete and run out and where will that leave us then? The entire worlds governments are starting to do things... mainly because media has pictured a dooms day senario that just isn't going to happen. Nevertheless.... This has forced alot of the worlds governments to act or risk losing the next election. And, how do you suggest we stopp using fossil fuels? It can't just suddenly change.... We woundn't be able to afford enough alternatives or be able to build them fast enough. (JUSTVISITING;344864) Nuclear energy appears to be their "fall-back" but I don't feel that this is entirely safe. We have a huge source of virtually "free energy" which we don't appear to be taking full advantage of. I am talking about our Sun and the use of "solar energy". It only becomes free once you've build the very expensive farms.... It takes a very large farm to power a town. Infact, it would be very stupid to rely our energy gains on solar power... All it takes is a tiny asteroid or large volcano and you lose the power for the entire world. And in places where sun shine is very little, I.e., Britain. Nuclear energy is safe... Only in the hands on an incompetent country does it become dangerious. (JUSTVISITING;344864) There doesn't appear to be any likelyhood that this power source will run out anytime in the near, or distant, future at least for another billion years or so. It took us 30,000 years to harness the power of the atom and get our first man made object our of this planet. Billions of years is a massive exaggeration; maybe try taking off 4-6 0's Providing we survive 1 billion years, at our current growth rate we'll have become the "Ancients" that have been told of in many stories, that travel from world to world colonising, terraforming, creating... Who knows; maybe by then we will have perfected our understanding of existance and the laws of the universe. (JUSTVISITING;344864) Add to that the use of "wind-power" employing "wind-farms" and we have an extra source of energy. Alright the wind-turbines may not look "pretty" but they give us what we want, energy without corrupting and spoiling our Planet. Global warming says that weather patterns will change dramatically. Its changing anyway, and stopping fossil fuel usage doesn't do much. (The fossil fuels are a tiny percentage of the problem) We would need mobile wind farms, very, very expensive... People bitch enought about taxes already. (JUSTVISITING;344864) I have read that already governments are building, or have built, huge underground bunkers/command centres in preparation for any future ecological disaster Have you actually seen these bunkers though? I've read that licking door handles give you aids; and that playing with yourself makes you blind. But it doesn't make it true. (JUSTVISITING;344864) Where does that leave the rest of us, you and I, the common people, the man in the street? Are we just to be left to our own devices and hope and pray that some of us may be lucky enough to survive and start again? Dead or fighting for survival following certain models. If the government left us to our own devices, then they are alot dumber than humanly possible. Angry, scared people left on their own by someone who they're supposed to trust, plus a complete breakdown of law and order; that would spell armygeddon, not the climate. |

This is another example of "them and us" and the very thought of that "stinks to high heaven". They are like a putrifying carbuncle on the face of reason. We will need our goggles on when it bursts. Whatever legal rights we have to our own communities we must preserve. Let us look after ourselves, prepare against disaster as best we can. There is a lot we can do within the law. Even protecting our homes and families, for we are being abandonned by our governments it feels. Heavy locks and deep holes, or emmigrate away from the worst of the storm, maybe all of that. Mostly just patience, waiting for it to blow over as it surely will. |
