When I was a child I used to hear things when I was laying in bed, trying to sleep. I would've been around 6 or so but I remember the sounds quite vividly.

It was as if I had people talking in my ear, saying things I couldn't quite make out, but it would fluctulate from just normal talking to really loud, ear-splittingly painful screaming. I used to shout for them to shut up and push a pillow over my head to drone out the sound and I suppose eventually it would stop or I would fall asleep.

What do you think it could have been?

It's my theory that everyone is born with some kind of psychic sixth "sense" and that it eventually becomes dormant over time (except for some people, which is where mediums and such come into play and animals) but I don't want to be so quick as to point at that and thus, am looking to see if there is any possible explanation for why I would've heard what I did.

I repeatedly told my mother every morning after that this occured and was given the same answer - "You're still growing, your ears are getting used to sound."

Yet I don't hear many other kids complaining they heard some kind of screaming.

Were you ever able to make out what the voices said?

Maybe a radio/tv in another room or something?

A few times I distinctly heard my name - at others? Haven't a clue.

Definitely was not radio/TV in the other room - this was in my ear.

Have you ever felt like you know what someone is thinking?

Perhaps, as a child you were hearing the thoughts of all those in the area around you. Dunno?

I do have a tendency for that, but my argument is that I'm bound to know what someone's thinking if I've known them for a while and grown used to them.

This always occured when everyone in the house was in bed.

Well, if you hardly show no psychic abilities than it was probably something more mundane, but what that could be I don't know.

I think it's something to be considered, but I also hallucinated a lot as a child.. or so I think.
I've seen a UFO but I've also seen ghosts in the form of batman-looking characters (as a child).
I too believe that children are psychic, but things aren't always what they seem.

you are quite right in saying that all children are born with it .. Children dont have fear installed into their mind at the early ages thats why they are more inclined to have the gift then others.. we ofther loose it as we get older as we block it due to the fear of it .. in your case seems to me that your mother blocked it for you by in a way tell you to ignore it and brushing it off as nothing.. It could of been either spirits or your guides talking to you. there are ways now that you can remove the blockage if you are ready for it ..

lol could be the nearest explanation so far. Having said that I've always heard voices.....hold on mate....let me explain lol. Unlike the thredie I don't vividly "hear" in my ear just within my head and it's only as I fall asleep.

There is,if you like, 3 definable fazes. 1) fully awake 2) drifting off a kind of inbetween 3) asleep.
It's in part 2 where I'll hear stuff and it can piss me right off because it keeps me awake. I'll notice it maybe 5 to 10 times a year. If you think that's strange.....get this....it's all in bloody Italian or French or Russian. I know a little school french and the odd words in Italian and Russian just like anyone else.

The voices and words are indesquingable (spelling sorry) but the accents are clearly defined. Simular to being in a busy town centre. You hear voices but can't quite hear the words. You know it's English etc.

Some say your teeth fillings can pick up radio...maybe. Would I like to specualte on strange phonomina...not really. Do others have the same thing as they fall into sleep....prolly.
