Someone just directed me to the Onion website. I've kind of heard of it before and sometimes on Keith Oberman or whatever show, they will use a clip or two from The Onion.

Are we flooding the planet it dark insensitive humor for a reason? Am I paranoid or should we just make fun of everything that is fucked up about our planet?

on a sidenote, I saw the orriginal film Bedazzled. Not the messed up version with Brendan Fraser but the one with Peter Cook and Duddly moore. I was actually making a thread about it but my computer locked up and i had to reboot.

anyways, After going to another site and seeing some stuff from the Onions Website, It reminded me of Bedazzled. Lucifer (Played by Peter Cook) is so mischievous you can't help but laugh. laughing through the entire film even though it's pretty bad.

As I'm typing this my Monitor goes out. I had to turn it off and then back on. I feel like everything is controlled.

I am not sure about other countries but here in OZ we are very fond of poking fun at ourselves, and others. These days it is politically incorrect, but some of the racist jokes that have been made in the past, are made between the best of friends. Oz is changing now, politics has gotten the better of us now and no longer is it Ok to make jokes about others. It is sad, because as hard as it is for some to understand, it is not meant with any harm, you would often find the bloke who is making a joke about another person, would be the first to come forward to defend him if trouble started. An hour later they would be poking fun at each other. It is traditional Australian banter that is disappearing. I guess most would say good riddance? But still we do like to poke fun at ourselves over here. I guess you have to be an old school Aussie to get it though

Oh they do it in the states too. It just seems like there is way to much of it at times. Like everything is an open target.. even children. I'm not going to be all serious and PC.. it's why I placed a paranoid face to make fun of myself for the way i think. but sometimes it's just way to much insanity in our society.

That is true. I respect that. But, I was just saying some things seem off limits. Like if a little girl was slammed to the ground by a bully.. would we make light of that. especially if she broke her neck and was paralyzed. Some people would make fun of that. I think that's going to far.

I agree, that would be way to far. Most of our banter is pretty good natured, for example, I went to a cousins wedding and walked in the door of a house filled with my cousins who I had not seen in over 10 years. I walked in the door and one cousin yells from across the room. Hey Ray you Fat bastard, I see youv'e been in a good paddock. I replied to him, christ you ugly bastard are you still going, I though they put you down at birth cos they couldnt stand to look at you. % mins later we were having a beer together swapping stories of the last 10 years. We have many racist jokes over here, but just as many about Ourselves as others.

For example, A pom, an Irishman and an Aussie were sitting in a pub, when in walked a bloke in long white robes, long hair and a crown of thorns. the Irishman looked across at him and says, "I know that bloke from somewhere" He leans over and says, excuse me sir, but would you be Jesus, I am, replied Jesus, bartender, I pint of your best guiness for my friend Jesus over here. A little while later the Pom looks across and says, you look a lot like Jesus my man, I am jesus he replies. bartender, I'l have a glass of your finest british ale for my friend jesus here. the Aussie was watching all this and after a while he leans across and says, hey mate, you reckon your Jesus do ya. I am he says. bartender, give me mate jesus here a couple of VB stubbies to take home with him. Anyway closing time comes and Jesus gets up to leave, he walked over and shakes hands with the Irishman, the irishman looks at his hand and says, my arthritis, im cured, its a miracle, Jesus shakes the poms hand and thanks him, the pom stands up straight for the first time in years. My back he cries, my back is cured, I have no pain it is a miracle. Jesus walkes over to the Aussie and outs out his hand to shake it, well the Aussie backs away and almost falls over a chair to avoid Jesus's hand, the Aussie says, Not on your life mate, I am still on workers compensation.

I believe absolutely EVERYTHING can be made into a joke, you have to consider timing and wording tho.
