Fresh Moa Tracks
Rex and Heather have returned from New Zealand and have many new discoveries to show. Rex has been going to New Zealand with his wife heather since the 80's and this was their 10th trip. A few years back he discovered a small scrub Moa track(s) up-to 20 in leaf-mould..of which two were cast. The latest tracks are of two large Moa's and possibly a variety that was thought to be s separate species on both islands but could now be the same species.. Rex is sending the images and a report to me early next week. The large track I have seen (at the last meeting)were very impressive and matches exactly the Museum's exhibition at Auckland showing tracks and the feet of all the species of Moa's, that Rex also filmed (at the museum)and showed at the meeting which I filmed.. One of the tracks is the size of my arm-from my wrist to my elbow..The two side digits are present but only the inside half-the back pad is missing, lost in leaf mould. Rex was very fortunate that he could cast what he did.. Track photo below, in thumbnail for now until Rex allows me to add the larger image. When I see him later on next week and he gives me the report he is writing and colour photos he took will post them. Click below link and then scroll down to New Zealand then click Moa. http://www.armbell.com/mysteriousaustr/ind...mysteriousaustr |

Has anyone put together a large group to scour the area to see if one can be located?
Has anyone set up a trail-cam to capture a picture of one? Interesting so far. -------------------- QUEST FOR THE REAL TRUTH |

Hi If that was to happen they would be hunted, or at the very least large groups of people would converge there. It is not always the best idea to show where you have your evidence, in the past this has been disastrous for megalithic sites and these so called extinct-or unknown to science creatures. Maoris know of other creatures, but they won't divulge their location either. Not everything you hear is as it seems.. Actually, where the tracks-and others discovered a few years back (of the smaller scrub Moa)where found covers an area of over 45 square kilometers...and its thick scrub, as thick as any in Australia... I am going there next year with Rex and Heather and we will be setting up cameras etc.. When you see the larger images you will see the track better. As I said next weekend-not this weekend, am going to stay at there home and video and take photos, and Rex is giving me the full report and his colour images. It is a pity that the heel/pad was in leaf-mould and couldn't be cast. The rest o f the track though does show the unmistakable print of a large Moa. At least 6-8 feet tall. The Moa had a normal stride of approx of 2 feet between the front and back foot formation, as shown in the New Zealand Museum...There are other prints as well. So, in 9 days I should have designed a new page on New Zealand (which I have been trying to do for Rex since 2001-when I first did his first site for him) and I will check back in here then and paste the url. |

Wow, did not know their feet were so big. Looks more like a dino footprint. Hidden creature cams would be cool. Keep the location secret. If they aren't extinct they will be if people know where to find them. Too many idiots in the general public with no respect.
Just like the colycanth fish, extinct dosn't always mean really extinct. It would be cool if they could be saved from ultimate extinction. |
