an unatural flight pattern.you explained it well.i have seen a white dot, tiny but high up,really high.nice day small amount of cloud.it was to high for a plane and i live between gatwick, heathrow and stansted airports so know what most aircraft look like.no vapour trail,no noise,no explanation.
Can satellittes or the space station been seen with the naked eye during the day? |

Great vid, cool.
Something with a steady blinking light is likely not in orbit, although very high. If it is in orbit it likely a very low one. Orbitol satellites, including the space station, are usually visible due to reflected sunlight and look much like stars at night. Due to orbitol altitude they are often in sunlight when it is night on surface. They are on an orbitol path and mantain a slow steady course. Some military satellites are capable of changing orbital trajectory, but not with abrupt or erratic path. They can appear to suddenly disappear if they pass from sunlight into earths shadow. Blinking lights can appear to have erratic flight paths because we lose focus of exact position between blinks. If it is oppertune to observe them long enough we can often tell if motion is straight and consistant or actually is erratic motion. |

Thanks bart.. i see them all the time and usually have no luck filming them.. but sunday the sky
was swarming with them .. ive never seen so many in one day.. they are at a very high altitude and tiny but they do appear to be like they are more closer to the clouds than something out in orbit.. that first vid you can still see it through the cloud.. i doubt satellites would be visible through cloud.. and they go in and out of visibility.. ive watched them with bino's Heres a few more vids http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm17/Co...urrent=HAO4.flv http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm17/Co...urrent=HAO1.flv http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm17/Co...urrent=HAO3.flv http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm17/Co...urrent=HAO5.flv BTW i couldnt see a damn thing on the camcorder screen with the light on it.. so it was a bit of just point in the right direction and hope to get something.. In my intro (intropage) I have posted 2 pictures. One shows how low they (often) fly, the other (click to enlarge) shows about 90 of them, through a telelens. This shows the sky was really swarming with them. Now they are gone, it seems to me they react to the temperature. In New Zealand it's winter now, and a few months ago they flew north/northwest. Let's see if they come back in spring...
Also one of the days when it was very bussy I could see one very close (about 50-100 meters?) with binoculars. I'm already working on a painting in photoshop to show what it looked like up close. Appeared "organic". Will be there soon. When they fly in hordes they usually go the same direction. As I live in New Zealand they flew mostly north/nortwest and mostly only in the afternoon (again temperature?) -------------------- Time and Space never had a beginning. Therefore anything is possible. Even the impossible. |
