I have been on the net since 1994 and in that time I have watched the net from an infant to a full fledged skeptical community.

People who do not research certain subjects seem to have a negative opinion on a subject they have really not been interested in before but now the net is out seem to have the answer to everything.

I see so many people claim we didn't go to the Moon, you didn't do that, you cannot have found this or that, this is not real it's imagination and on and on and on. Your dreaming, your looking at faces in clouds etc..

I feel sorry for these people who will never see these things for what they are. Will never be able to see beyond their skepticism, which is nothing wrong with that just why comment on a subject your not interested in but seem to be trying to show that you know all the answers.

The Universe is far is far stranger than any person can imagine. I think the saying"Seek and you shall find" As anon religious statement is really quite true. You can type no, n, no all day but it really is just a ruse for the brain not to let it's guard down, skepticism is great but it's not for me!!!!

Having said that; the way people's research is commented on seems to be quite vicious at times and has no really worth but for the poster to try to beliddle evidence..One comment to a post I did on carved faces in rock, real carved faces, and actual carved idols; the answer was what is to be expected these days. A very stupid and un-thought out answer.

Most skeptics get a bad rap simply because they ask for evidence to back up wild claims by people who expect them just to open their mind and believe, not to question what they have heard just have blind faith in what they are told...

I will agree to get nasty is wrong, but it goes both ways T.C, i have been attacked on here several times just because i wouldn't blindly believe, and i asked for some evidence....

I firmly believe it is down to the person making the claim to provide evidence to back up said claim, not the other way round, you can't for example prove a negative....

Speaking of vicious, I thought your comments on that very thread were unwarranted, so perhaps you might like to include yourself in your comments. I too have been on the net along time, actually I can remember installing winsock on windows 3.1, to change the net from a command line environment that you navigated purely with ftp and telnet, to the first use of a browser. I have also worked in IT for most of that time. I would say the net is one of the most diverse places you will find anywhere. You don't have to look far to find the lunatic fringe so it is hardly a place only for skeptics. Out of those I have met here at AU, I would say without a doubt that the number of people inclined to beleive in this stuff far outweighs those that you would call skeptics. One mistake people like yourself so often make is to assume that because someone does not agree with your conclusions and opinions on any given subject, they of course must be a skeptic. This is just not always the case. I have learned this the hard way on a few occasions myself, times where I have jumped to that conclusion. It is an easy mistake to make. Myself for example, I beleive we are from time to time visited by UFO's, I beleive in the afterlife and reencarnation, and I beleive in, at least to some extent the paranormal. But most here would likely label me as a skeptic. This is because in my opinion, most (but not all) things we see and don't understand have a perfectly rational explanation. And I, like many you would likely label as a skeptics choose to try and find it.
