Here is an interesting object in the middle of Alluvial Fan.
PSP_001415_1875 was studied by U of Az for Alluvial Fan characteristic on Mars. It was this same photo that was mailed to John Lear since they wanted us to look at the usual tracks on Mars. I posted this in full details in another thread. Later we found this usual object on this same photo. ![]() In false color, ![]() Closeup, ![]() Rohn |

It does look like something unnatural.
Could it not also be a stone of a nature that when it breaks off it tends to do so at right angles? -------------------- QUEST FOR THE REAL TRUTH |

AD.....the feature in the pic looks smilar to about 5 or 6 other features in the same pic.....but straight lines, right angles and sharper angles do occurr in nature. A regional pic of the area would help to identify potential causes of such a feature |

i can understand a rock breaking in straight line or right angles, but this rock appears to be on its own,you expect to find similar rocks nearby perhaps.Yet this one appears alone.Where in nature does rock make rectangles and rightangles?its just that i thought about my first sentence i typed and it occurred that I don't remember seeing any,not natural anyhow.

Rohnds, when you post these, it would be a good idea to post a link to the Nasa original each time. An image like this means very little without some opportunity to cheack some measure of authenticity.

Why is there a nice little circular discoloration around the anomaly that is not found anywhere else in your picture?
Why is the anomaly more pixelated than the surrounding area? -------------------- "A Wise Man looks at a grain of sand and sees the Universe...

I think seeing the regional views would come in handy... |

Is that a natural formation? That's really cool. I image it's caused by layers of rock being eroded by the water? -------------------- "A Wise Man looks at a grain of sand and sees the Universe...

Rohn it would be nice if you answered questions posed to you in other threads instead of ignoring them and starting another, in another thread you stated what i am about to quote below...
What is this object? Is it natural or artificial? If the object was added to photo by NASA, why? If they didn't delete the object from the photo as they usually do, why didn't they? Rohn You accuse NASA of usually deleting objects from photos, so i asked the question i'm about to post below... There you go again saying NASA usually delete things from photos, how can you possibly say that when all the photos you and your little group use come from NASA, surely if they usually delete objects you or your team wouldn't have any photos to post in the first place.... So PLEASE answer my question, if as you say NASA normally delete objects from photos, where do your photos come from, if they are direct from NASA, well then for you to say that NASA normally deletes objects is very flawed, or you wouldn't have any photos to post in the first place... I await your reply..... -------------------- Nathanial "a_skeptic" Meade 1979-2007 RIP |

K-rex....its a natural formation.....its called tessellated pavement.....I believe the University of Tasmania has a good write up on it.....or look it up on wiki..... Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I'm not contesting that it's a natural formation: it just surprises me. It's actually pretty easy to see how it's formed: layers of sediment being washed away, the action of the waves breaking layers into little 'bricks'. It's cool though. I actually vaguely remember seeing this in a magazine somewhere. The mountains that get misidentified as step pyramids have the same processes sometimes. Mind you: some mountains really ARE pyramids. When I first saw your pic, I was going to joke around and say something like: "Oh, my gosh! It's pavement from an ancient civilization!" But I was afraid some people might take it and let their imaginations run loose. -------------------- "A Wise Man looks at a grain of sand and sees the Universe...

Hey rohnds.. long time. Forget that rock.. look below at the shadow of the circular rock. Is it natural or is it a rendering thing being so far away from the camera? That object below it near the bottom looks like a perfect circle.
