Anyone who has looked into Rover photos for anomalies would recognize this image of what look like wooden log.

Here is the photo of the famous "wooden log" that the Rover Opportunity ran over.

Source: http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all...unity_n115.html

While studying this set of photos, we found this square shaped depression we think is more solid evidence of an artificial structure that once stood on Mars.

I agree with you Rohn, on what they look like. But are they really what they appear to be?
Looks can be deceiving remember.

Anyone that has seen the geological formations on the planet called "Earth" would not even bother asking this question.

I'm sorry to be so harsh, and I believe in life out there and I have seen things, but centering on trivial things diverts us from concentrating on actual anomalous data.

There seems to be an awful lot of angular shaped rocks photographed on Mars i'm just wondering if it could be something to do with the make-up of the rock on Mars and that when it splits or breaks its always at an angle just a thought

rohn.....as I have posted before squares do occurr in nature....and considering the size (they are quite small) of the features....and there are other features in your pics that have right angles that appear to be similar. Your pics also show the "wooden log" is a resistent layer exposed in the area.

It is my impression that this is a very small scale geological feature

So there's wooden logs on Mars. There's also sand, dirt, stones & water.

As I've said before, the only reason why NASA hasn't discovered life on Mars yet is because Mars is a planet. It's huge and there's millions of places for extraterrestrial civilizations to live. NASA is sending robots to the wrong areas on Mars where it's nothing but dry land much like the deserts here on Earth. These discoveries of logs, sand, dirt, stones and water are a sign that NASA is getting closer to an area where there's extraterrestrial civilizations.

I agree 100%, Sen.

I love this quote, Mac. Hilarious.

That's an interesting thought, Oskar. The school where I teach is on a mountain and there are eroded areas of rock that give some areas a 'stepped' appearance ... not because we built our school on a pyramid but because of the way the rocks break off. Castle-Bravo had a great pic a while back showing square rock formations near the sea. It also had a 'patio' look to it, but again it's just how the erosion occurred. Currently some scientists believe that water very briefly existed very very early in Mars's history. Wind also shapes the land.

Depending on the layering of sediment, you can get some pretty unique shapes.

Most interesting geological formation I ever saw was Bryce Canyon, Utah.
It has some really beautiful and bizarre rock formations.

I agree. I think the so called 'log' is simply erosion pattern on rock.

Water on Mars is ice-locked (so far). There's NO evidence of wood or ANY plant life. However, I agree that there ARE places (albeit not millions) for aliens to live. My guess are the deep holes in the Martian surface.
