i dont know where to post this, but here goes, just the other day i was driving to walmart from my house a stretch of about 10 miles, well as i was driving i glanced at this airplane over the treeline which looked like a small passenger jet very low to the ground well im watching it and watching it expecting it to make its turn for the approach to the nearby airport, when i realized something very odd, THE PLANE WAS NOT MOVING, it sat there and sat there! so im thinking well i must be moving at around the same speed that the plane is so it looks like an optical illusion, well it was so akward that i had to pull over and as i did im looking out my window and its just sitting there in the sky not moving and im thinking what the hell is going on here i thought i was loosing my mind, and heres the weird part i watched it for about another 3 minutes standing absolutely still and then it just disappeares like some sort of mirage or something, and i am absolutely baffled by it, i have no idea what to even think of it, also i do recall my girlfriend saying that she had seen something similar to what i seen, a plane absolutely *still in the air as she was driving the same route with one of her friends, both her and her friend saw it. has anyone heard or seen similar? please respond because this is the weirdest thing that i have seen..... so far

I'm not saying this is what happened for a fact, but when a plane is flying toward you it can appear to remain in the same spot for a long period of time. It is almost a hovering type effect.

now that i think about it, i didnt..... thats even more strange, see i thought it was an optical illusion too, when i say it disappeared like a mirage i mean just that, it sort of just combined with the atmosphere, as i recall it just seemed to turn into heat vapors from what it looked like, but since i do live near the airport and airforce base here in duluth minnesota, i see alot of planes approaching and taking off, they include various types of planes from passenger planes to fighter to cargo planes but i have never seen any plane do what i have described above, so thats why i just thought i would post it, maybe it was a mirage maybe it wasnt i have no clue, but ill tell you what i always keep a camera in my car after that incident just incase i run across something similar again.

Ventex, did you see the plane 'head on' or 'side on'? You say it looked like a 'small passenger jet', how could you tell? Or was it too far away to be sure. Maybe you could check the flights into and out of the airport round about the time you saw the 'object', as well as where they were coming from/going to. All flights usually register a flight plan, unless they are making an emergency landing of course. As for the way it disappeared, was the weather cold or warm/hot. You could have seen a 'reflection' of a plane due to atmospheric conditions, much like a mirage.

It's possible that it was a VTOL aircraft, still I don't know any civilian/passenger aircraft that has VTOL/STOL capabilities. When an aircraft comes into land (depending on the aircraft) it will be travelling at around 120 - 180 kph. If you are going at 100 kph in the same direction, it's going to appear to move quite slowly. As for the sound, depending on where you were, sound can appear to be distorted. If you've ever had a super-sonic fighter aircraft fly over you, you hear nothing until it's already passed overhead and is travelling away from you. This would only be the case if it was heading right for you though... Could you describe the aircraft in more detail please? Perhaps it was a UFO.

it was hot that day, about 82*f but the thing is it was close it seemed only like about
1/2 mile away, and i know the difference between and small and large jet because the small jets have two front wheels and large jets i believe have 4 i and also it is a small airport so you dont see the large passenger jets in this area. the only thing i can think of is that it was somesort of mirage because of the way it just disappeared, i cant explain how it could of happened if it was a solid object, again i dont know what more to say, just that it was so strange.

i know optical illusions can seem very distorted at times , so the only way i can grasp this incident, is it is in one form or another some sort of manipulated light, that is the only plausible explanation that i can come up with,

Private aircraft such as the Leerjet have a tri carriage system (three wheels) they typically have the engines mounted on the tailplane, or toward the rear of the fuselage, and yes it may have been an illusion. Is the object you saw anything like a leerjet?

You know what guys? this is a bunch of bull i believe in aliens and all but this site SUCKS. Alot of people can tell if a picture is a hoax or not and this site has ALOT OF HOAX PHOTOGRAPHS! believe me guys i am an expert i know alot about UFO's.
