Source: Erich von Däniken in "Aussaat und Kosmos" ("Seeding and Cosmos")
(...) The Caiapo Brazilian Native tribe legend, discovered by anthropologist Dr. Joao Americo Peret - He heard it in the Gorotire taba ("village") at River Fresco, South of Para State, Brazil, told by the indian Kubenkrankein, the tribe's old advisor, known as "Gaway-baba" ("the wiseman"). This is the legend told by the wiseman: "Our people lived in a vast caatinga (dry land), far from here, from where one could see the Pukato-ti Mountains, which peaks were and are still covered by the mist of uncertainty, not gone even today. (...) (...) One day, BEBGOROROTI, came from PUKATO-TI, and entered our village for the first time. He dressed the BO (today represented in the tribe's rituals by a "straw armor"), covering all his body , from head to feet. In his hand he carried KOB, a thundering weapon. All the villagers got scared, several seek hide in the forest; the men tried to protect the women and children and some tried to fight the intruder, but their weapons proved to be too weak. Every time the indian's weapons got hit BEBGOROROTI's clothing, they got desintegrated and turned into dust. The warrior from cosmos laughed when he saw how weak were the weapons of the natives from this land. In order to demonstrate His power, he raised KOB, aimed it to a tree and a rock, and next, destroyed them both. (...) To be continued |

No Kevin!!! Erich Von Daniken has admitted to being a fraud. He also spent time in jail for fraud. He is now the owner of a 'space' theme park in Switzerland I think. He is a 100% fraudster who falsified and lied all the way through his books. Especially 'Chariots of the Gods.' Good to see you back though Kevin!

I find Erich von Däniken rather offputting after he admited he was a fraud and that some of the things he wrote about were not true and that he made some stuff up... Hard to know what is true and what is made up in his books because of that... He said something like, that he also made certain infromation fit into his theories and that it's crap if I remember correctly.... Still Kevin, you may be able to offer some help on what you believe is no a lie...
Great to see you back again Kevin... You haven't been here since about the beginning of May??? I remember coming back last time from work to find you were gone and I was disappointed... you do some great posts especially in Crypto... and now that I'm taking off again for a bit you decide to come back and post... Poopy bum to you Kevin... I'll have to catch up when I get back by the looks... the way the cookie crumbles... Dingo :goblin: . |

I just quoted von Däniken above to give you a literary reference you can find on libraries.
Anyway, the sources he quotes in his book "Aussaat und Kosmos", Brazilian anthropologists Felicitas Barreto and Joao Americo Peret, are real and have been interviewed by a local journalist here known of mine, Saulo Gomes. Other books of Däniken quotes other sources that can be confirmed by French, German, Russian authors and others. Thanks for the nice reception, folks. Dingo, I'll take that as a compliment, since I have quite a poor knowledge of the Aussy idiom. As a salute to Ben, I 'm right now listening the beautiful soundtrack of his favourite movie, Braveheart. Part II of the legend is on the way. |

"Most of the villagers then believed by that BEBGOROROTI wanted to prove his peaceful intentions, that he had not come to make war against the aborigines. And so it was, for a long time.
The village was swept by great commotion. Some of the tribe's bravest warriors tried to offer resistance to his presence there, but there was nothing they could do but get used to BEBGOROROTI, who did not attempt to none of them. Because of his beauty, THE SHINING WHITENESS OF HIS SKIN, his kindness and care to everyone, he won even the more recalcitrant hearts and captivate the whole tribe. All felt a sensation of safety in his presence, thus, become friends of him. BEBGOROROTI enjoyed to handle our people's weapons and learned what it takes to become an skilled hunter. Finally, he overcome the best of the tribal leaders in handling the weapons and become the bravest of braves in the village. Soon after, BEBGOROROTI was accepted by the tribe as warrior and next he was CHOSEN (the Brazilian Natives women are the ones who chose their husbands, but the candidates have to demonstrate their intents to all the tribe to see) by a young woman to be her husband. They got married and had a boy and a girl, the last called by them NYOBOGTI. BEBGOROROTI was far more intelligent than all the others, and thus, begin to teach them a lot of stuff ignored by them so far. |

"He taught the men how to build the NGOB, the MEN's HOUSE, existing today in all the indian settlements. In that house, the men tell their experiences to the young ones, and so those learned how to react in situations of danger. In reality, the house was a school and BEBGOROROTI was the school-master.
In the area of the Ngob, the skills, heavy works and our weapons were improved and all that was done there thanks to the great warrior from cosmos. He also founded the "Great Council", in which we discuss the tribe's issues, which gradually has become a more organised institution, that made easier the tasks and the daily lives of all. Oftenly, the young ones become rebels and left to attend the NGOB. Then, BEGOROROTI, dressing the BO, search for them who, soon later, ceased resistance and returned to the NGOB, cause that was the only place where they would be safe. When the hunt was difficult, BEBGOROROTI got the KOB and KILLED ANIMALS WITHOUT WOUND. The hunter always had the right to keep to himself the best part of the hunt, although BEBGOROROTI, WHO DID NOT EATED THE USUAL FOODS OF THE VILLAGE, only got the strictly necessary to him and his family. His friends disagreed of that attitude, but he wouldn't change his mind. |

"As years went by, his behavior changed. He abandoned the activities and journeys of his fellows, prefering to remain inside his oca (hut). And when he came out, always went to the PUKATI-TI Sierra, from where he came times ago. Although, one day, BEBGOROROTI, could not contain anymore his eagerness to leave and abandon the village. He gathered all his family but NYOBOGTI (who whas out) and left hurried. The days were passing and BEBGOROROTI couldn't be found anywhere. Suddenly, he reappeared in the village square, screaming terrible battle cries. All assumed he had gone mad and tried to calm him down. But, in the moment the men approached him, a fierce battle started. BEBGOROROTI did not use his weapon, but his entire body vibrated and who touched it, dropped dead. So the warriors fell, one after another.
The fight went on for days, cause the fallen warriors ressurrected and always tried again to win BEBGOROROTI. They chased him to the edges of the sierra, then something fearful, terrible happened, that left everyone out of words. BEBGOROROTI devastated everything around the edges of the sierra with KOB. He reached the top of the sierra, the trees and bushes in his way, powderized. Next, there was a fearful thunder that cause a quake in all the region and BEBGOROROTI disappeared in the skies, involved in clouds and flames, smoke and thunder. With that event that make the land shake, the tree's roots were taken out of ground, the wild fruits become rotten, the hunt disappeared and the tribe begun to starve. NYOBOGTI married a warrior and gave birth to a boy. She was, after all, the daughter of the celestial BEBGOROROTI, and one day she said to her husband that she knew where to go in search of food for the village. But, in order to do that, she would have to go to the PUKATO-TI sierra. Ceasing resistance to NYOBOGTI, the husband found courage and followed her to the sierra's region. |

But there's no electricity where I am and in all honesty, I prefer it that way.... And I don't have a laptop... But I know the people at the local general store so I'm hoping when I go into town to buy supplies I might be able to have a bit of a look at their computer... but my time would be very limited though... "There, in the area clalled MEM-BABA-KENT-KRE, she searched for a specific tree in which branchs she sat with her small son in her lap. The she asked to her husband to bend down the branches of the tree till their points touched the ground. In that instant happened this: there was a blow and NYOBOGTI disappeared among clouds, smoke and dust, lightning and thunder.
The husband waited for some days. He was almost losing all hope and was wishing to die of starvation when, suddenly, he heard another thunder and saw thtat the m,issing tree have returned to its old place. He had then an big surprise, seein his wife in front of him, in the company of BEBGOROROTI, bringing a big basket, filled with foods he had never seen. Soon later, the celestial man sat again in the charmed tree and ordered to bend down its branches till they touched the ground. Again, there was a blow, and the tree disappeared in the skies. NYOBOGTI returned with her husband to the there she spread the message send by BEBGOROROTI, which was an order: all the villagers should move immediately, to build their huts near MEM-BABA-KENT-KRE, in the place where they would receive foods. NYOBOGTI said yet that they should keep the seeds of the fruits, the groceries and bushes till the next rain season, to laid them in the ground, in order to obtain a new crop. ...Our peoplemoved to PUKATO-TI Sierra region, where they lived in peace. The huts of our settlements become more and more numerous and they could be seen since the mountains to the horizon..." |

F.A
urban legend, unfortunately will never know for sure what happened. Not sure what you mean by urban legend... I though urban legend had a different definition and meaning to what this story is.... which is a tribal legend told by the wisemen of the tribe to be a truth... Yet an urban legend is a story told in modern times which is seen as an untruth? Dingo :goblin: . |
