Oiuja boards are used to contact spirits, we know this, but another method that was used in the last century is slowly becoming the fashion these days.
It is the art of Table Tilting.
The method is that a small group of people stand or sit around a circular table placing the tips of their fingers on the top of the table. Someone then contacts a spirit and asks questions.
The Spirit then replies with taps that seem to emminate from the table answering either 1 rap for yes or two for no. Another way is that the spirit will give an amount of raps for the letter of the alphabet 1=A 2=B etc.
Sometimes the table will actually move and levitate and move around the room.
Some people think that psychic energy is the cause for the possibilty of the tables movements and argue that the power of thought alone is the cause, others argue that it is spirit doing the work.
Micheal Faraday who was perhaps one of the greatest practical scientists of the late 19th century theorised that The mechanism behind table tilting was explained by,small, unconscious movements of the hands and
fingers can be amplified when many people use such apparatus.
This was explained as long ago as 1850.

Table tilting is fast becoming used again but the argument still rages as to what exactly is the cause of the phenomena.

Last Thanksgiving a woman I was dating introduced me to a game called: uptable.

You need 4 people and a lightweight square table.
each participant sits on each corner (except for the north side which must be empty and facing true north)
toes are touching each other, thumbs and index fingers are together forming a triangle, and the fingers of each other are touching.

then you must believe, and chant: uptable uptable.. etc.. this is no joke.

The north end lifts off the ground and you can establish a yes/no question with this spirit, bounce 1 for no.. 2 for yes.

The table told me my birthdate, first letter of my name, and my mothers first letter. No one at the table new my birthdate or mothers name..

I would be inclined to believe something paranormal is going on in the case of table tilting, more than ouija.
I have seen table tilting performed and as with your experience the table raised up and started to pull the peeps (around the table) towards the door.
I watched everything closely and I saw no one lifting the table physically or any foul play did not appear to be happening
Thanks for the link I'll read it later. smile.gif when I have five mins to spare.

My great-great grandmother was very adept at table tilting and spirit knocking...additionally, she could extinguish a candle from across the room, move small objects telekenetically and scry...she also made very powerful 'potions'...

Pendulum dowsing and automatic writing used to be my favourite pastime, along with reading tarot cards home life has taken over now.

I think my mum has a lot of abilities, but she has never shown them.I think she is scared to use whatshe has as she had a fairly religious upbringing.

Question:

I have been told by so called "medimum's" and preists that perform exsorsisms that this is a dangerious game to play, as it invites energies into your home that you cannot control, and not all of them are good. Stories about people playing this game, and some of them become real ill and die later on. Could be just a myth, but what do you think?

If it is done in a controlled enviroment and a competent medium is present and you are all aware of what you are doing, then there should be no problems.
When people do it blind and just for a laugh then the problems arise..I would say that the implications are to do with psychological reasons more than paranormal, though the odd evil spirit can come through.
I think a lot of these stories can be over exagerated , due to the fear that comes with doing this type of thing.
And in hinsight things like apersons death after this would have probably happened even if they hadn;t have played with table tilting in the first place.

just my humble oppinion.

Even if you are all aware it can go horribly wrong, you are dealling with forces far greater than you can imagine. It can be far from harmless fun when the forces you summon may be evil and not good. Play with fire and you can get burnt.

Darla: please don't take this personaly but in the field of forces that are not known to us there is no such thing as a controlled enviroment. smile.gif smile.gif

Vulcan, this is exactly what was explained to me AFTER I was stupid enough to try this in my home. Dark shadowy figures at the corner of my eyes, Hellish breif visions.. IE: a horible face, right next to mine while in the bathroom, .. It was not a vision, but a "feeling". Very un nerving.

I believe this is step one after one invites bad energy into their home, the second stage has got to be worse. I wont do it anymore.

I do understand what you are saying Vulcan and there are times when it can go wrong, I've heard horror stories especially to do with ouija boards.
I had a bad experience with a oiuja board years ago and it frightened the heck out of me.
It can be less likely chance to have a bad experience if everyone agrees before hand on how to deal with any negative influences and of course all the preperation in the world won't stop a spirit if it decides to play nasty.
A lot of times when it does go wrong is around teenagers(Pre-pubescent) or those vunerable to being susceptible or panic.
It can and does go wrong, the best way to deal with it is to have guidelines before beggining, it may not stop anything bad from happening, but it can affect the outcome sometimes in a possitive way.
And no offence taken smile.gif

Its important to remember that when you raise power...you need to ground when you are finished...otherwise, it can continue to drain you and leave you open to physical, mental and psychic negativity

Also, you need to mentally and symbolically close the portal..otherwise, the beacon which you projected into the spiritual realm may be answered by those whom you did not call

Ok, I'm sure it's been disucssed somewhere on the discussion board before but this site can be like looking for information in an encyclopedia where all the pages are mixed up. So what's the deal with spirit guides? Does everyone have them? Could they be your guardian angel (if you believe in angels)? If you don't have one can you get one? If so, where will they guide you to?

Please give me the what , where, why and how's of spirit guides.

Various beliefs surround spirit guides, stargazer...though I think its commonly accepted that a spirit guide(s) is given to you at birth and such guides are either helpful beings or human souls whose job it is to help and guide you...Some people believe, myself included, that a soul must continuously learn lessons, whether by being reincarnated in human form or by working toward their enlightenment in the spirit realm...that being said...a spirit guide may be soul who has taken you under their wing...so to speak. Also, some believe that you have up to 9 spirit guides (if I remember correctly)....you may try to reach your spirit guide through meditation or any of the other methods of communicating with spirits

If you have more than one, you will have a 'main guide' who will act as a 'gatekeeper'

When i finally found my maternal siblings ( after 33 yrs of looking ) i learn that i came from a place in alabama called simmons mountain.I also learned that is where my grand mother and the elders ( women ) honed there crafts. So , please dont tamper with the unknown, no matter how controlled you think it is, IT ISN'T!!

I lernt the hard way aswell, it all started over 30 years ago and still terrifies me now.
Read the The Black Magic Books of Dennis Wheatley. Wheatley was a sadist who practiced black magic. In the forward of all his books he advices people not to meddle with the occult. But when one is young and see's or has no fears, it seemed a good thing at the time. lol
