Default Sharing the wealth concerning good health.

It's been well over 15 years since I've had a cold, flu, headache, earache or even a sore throat. One of the main reasons for my good luck in this area is due to the fact that I daily ingest bee hive products.

Back when Jimmy Carter was running for re-election his mother was asked who she thought would be elected as the next President. She replied, "Ronald Reagan, if he lives that long." Time magazine ran an article about the health status of the various candidates. Ronald Reagan suffered from numerous and serious ailments including incontinance.

During his Presidency I noticed that he seemed to look better with each passing year. It wasn't until I read the following quote that I began to understand why: 'A physically fit Ronald Reagan fortifies himself with bee pollen. His refrigerator is full of bee pollen bars.' (Whole Foods Magazine, January 1981).

Shortly after reading this I came across an article in a medical journal concerning bee pollen. The article spoke about the administering of one ounce of bee pollen per meal to a test group of cancer patients who were receiving either chemo-therapy or radiation therapy for their cancer. The conclusion of this experiment stated the fact that those receiving the bee pollen did not experience as severely the typical side-effects of the harmful cancer fighting therapies they were receiving as the non-pollen takers did.

It was at that time that I began to research bee pollen. Basically what I learned can be summed up by Dr. Betty Lee Morales, "Bee pollen is the only known food which contains every essential nutrient needed by mankind for perfect health. This fact has been proved by chemical analysis in the laboratories of all nations many times." You are invited to do your own research or you can E-mail me and I will send you a file of 5 pages on the benefits of bee hive products.

After starting to consume bee pollen in my own diet I began to research both royal jelly and propolis. You might have heard on the news this year in the lead up to the Central and South American celebration of 'Carnival' the advice to start taking bee propolis before and duing the festival in order to minimize throat infections as a consequence of the friendly kissing that takes place there.

My own story regarding propolis, which is a natural and powerful antibiotic and virus fighter, is as follows: I used to suffer from head colds at least 3 to 4 times a year which lasted for weeks. The doctor said I had really bad tonsils but having them removed might prove problematic at my age.

The evening I took my first gram of propolis I began to 'feel' something happening in my throat. Within a couple of days my usually red and swollen tonsils returned to their normal size and have not bothered me since. That was 16 years ago.

I've spent as much as $33 a pound for bee pollen which lasts approximately one month for me. I have discovered a website where I get excellent quality raw bee pollen in a 5lb. container for just $13.95! (plus shipping). I also buy my Lypholized Royal Jelly by the kilo as well as 1000 500mg capsules of bee propolis at a yearly cost of everything at around $300. The web site is listed here...

It should be noted I am not connected in any way with this company nor do I receive any compensation or discount for referring anyone to them. I am merely doing what I would expect others would do if they knew of something that could be of great benefit to others.

    Nice post.

I'm certainly interested. I'm pretty darn health conscious. I eat a mostly organic diet, no white flours or sugars. No hydrogenated oils yada yada yada.. I exercise regularly and use a variety of vitamins and supplements. All of them from whole food and natural sources.

I've heard a lot about bee products, just never really done the research. If you have a minute could you send me the file you were talking about? I'll do my own research as well, but I'd like to see what you have.

My mom started getting into herbs/"alternative medicines" about 9 years ago. I can vouch for Bee Pollen, among other things. I remember four years ago when I had what looked and felt like strep throat- my mom made me take ginseng, bee pollen, vit C and zinc lozenges. Guess what? The strep-like spots on my tonsels diassappeared, and I felt great- never went to a doc nor took popular cold meds. She used to swear that bee pollen works wonders and I don't doubt her. Vitamins rock.. when I can remember to take them...
Right now I take St. John's Wort daily, and used to take Melatonin or Kava Kava extract for sleep. Every single herb I've taken for health benefits has worked. 5-htp works great for mood balance along with St. John's... this is something both me and my bf swear on, our lives seem to be going better filled with more motivation whenever we are on it's regimen.
Bee pollen is something I'd forgetten about until now, so I think it's going to be something I may considar in the future.

theres a product (liquid) called sambucol - dont know if its available world wide. its a kick-start for your immune system, you're supposed to take it every day, and double the dose if you get an infection (cold, flu). comes in adult and children strength. have used it a lot - seems to help .....and it tastes yummy too

    StringTheory,

When I tried sending you the file I was referred to the administrator. I E-mailed them the file and my message. I hope you receive it. Do not contact the 'Pollen Man' unless you want to pay top price.

Default On the importance of good dental hygiene.

Last month I read an article in the newspaper by Abigail Leichman (Knight-Ridder). The title was 'Dental experts: Simple, diligent care enough.'

In the article she quotes from Janet Jaccarino, a registered dental hygienist and assistant professor at the School of Health Related Professions at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Jaccarino says that as many as 95 percent of Americans have some form of gum disease! Skipping over to last months issue of AARP there is a statement made in an article written by Carole Fleck regarding dental hygiene. It said:

'A growing number of studies indicate that bacteria from chronic gum infection can travel through the bloodstream to the heart and other organs. Researchers are also exploring the connection between gum disease and inflammation elsewhere in the body: If the lining of the arteries becomes inflamed, blood clots can form and cause a heart attack.'

Could the number one cause of death in this country possibly be related in part to poor dental hygiene? The newspaper article reported that all most people need to do to prevent or eliminate gum disease: "You just need to brush twice a day and floss at least once."

I take a multi vitamin everyday GNC Mega Men. I take 3 Whey Isolate protein shakes a day. They are good for my muscular physique and they have a good amount of Branched Chain Amino Acids. I take St. Johns wort as a mood enhancer also. I havent been sick since I started regurly with this routine a few years back.I ran out of vitamins for a few days and I got a tiny cold from it. Shows how important it is.
