Josh's (Hopefull) New Socio–Psychological Perspective
Ok, bear in mind that this is a work in progress and that I by no means proclaim this to be the absolute truth as to how people work... I do think though—provided that someone else hasn't thought of this before me—that this is a viable way to look at people.
People can be divided into three groups, with all three overlapping with each other and consisting of different numbers of people (as shown in my skillfully drawn diagram). The largest group consists of the followers. Nearly everyone fits into this group, but they aren't all mindless sheep as the name suggests. These people accept guidance in life and take after other people. It could be that they follow the democratic party or the catholic church. Or Jacques Chirac or Jesus. The point is that they follow. These are the people who go on looting sprees and succumb to mob mentality. Extreme examples of these people include Jerry Falwell, Elvis impersonators, and little league coaches who threaten the team. The second largest group are the leaders. Angry mobs don't run themselves, you know. Most leaders are also followers, with a few fitting into my third group. They tend to lead a group of people but are themselves led by someone or something else. A general in the military leads a large number of people, but he is still led by the higher generals and the president. The president is in charge of the entire executive branch. But, he is still led by congress and the supreme court. Notable absolute leaders who were not led by anyone but themselves (unless I have my facts wrong) include Hitler, Alexander the Great, Caeser, and Charlamagne. The last group, and also by far the smallest, are the lone wolves. They have the cool name because this is my group. These people live mostly for themselves and prefer to shun both following others and leading others. However, all but the craziest of hermits also fit into one of the above groups. Most lone wolves are content to follow when they have to because it's easier and they just want to be left alone. Some make excellent leaders, but are reluctant to do so. Generally, the lone wolves are very resolute in their decisions and don't let other opinions affect their own. My theory is that a person's actions can be predicted by examining what they follow. The lone wolves and absolute leaders are the only one's who don't fit with this, because they are led by no one and nothing but themselves. By looking at what a person holds dear, one should be able to determine their desires, motives, and aspirations. |
Wait, I forgot my analogy...
The "WWJD" bracelet (What Would Jesus Do?). Imagine almost everyone having a bracelet like that, except in place of Jesus is whoever they take after. What would Einstein do? What would Buddha do? What would Jerry Falwell do? What would Kerry do? What would Tutu do? |
I'm honestly more of a leader I feel. I like to be different, not act like anyone... be my own person.
Hodge, what about "What would Saber do?" I don't get a bracelet! GRRRR. Oh, hey... I'd take Buddha's, he's the Zen Master, and that's my goal now. lol. Be well. -Lord Saber  |
Hodge...there's already a socio-psychological theory along those lines called the 'Personality Temperments'...with all people grouped as artisans, guardians, idealists and rationals. With further subdivisons including those whose temperments are blended between the 4 types and the introvert and extrovert. Its a good theory and quite practical, as is your's, just a bit too limited though I think...but then you know I dont like labels or boxes. ;)
|
The way Hodge says it sounds better though, so he can steal it. Hey! Finders Keepers! Meh, unless you find something of mine! I'm such a hypocrite lol, least I'm honest :D. Be well.
-Lord Saber |
Can someone be a perfect mix of the 3?
I think that's what I would be... |
No fair... you have to be one! So pick! (I have no clue what I\'m talking about)
Be well. -Lord Saber ;) |
Think I fall into the "Lone Wolf" category..
|
Uh...well...I'm a bit of the "leader" type...but I follow Jesus, and, to a lesser extent, Ghandi...who followed Jesus...but I'm very Lone Wolfish over all...
What would that mean? |
What would I be?
WWJD? |
