Default Good places to go in the Americas.....?

Travel is always good for the soul, and it is always nice to get away for what is the norm. Ive been planing a trip to the Americas, and then I though I may as well find out off some Americans where are to good spots. Apart for the Roswell crash site......So where are the best places in South, Central and North America? From the photos Ive seen they look like geographically wonderous contients....!

Any :snowman: ......? Where are the best ski resorts.......?

Austin is the one to ask about Colorado ski resorts, I'll bet. Colorado has legendary ski places - I have only been to Purgatory, near Durango, but other famous names are Steamboat and of course, old Aspen and Vail.

Our nicest here in California is Mammoth Mountain, a fabulous place even in summer when the snow is gone.

TELLURIDE< TELLURIDE< TELLURIDE!!! mmmmm I have just recently tasted the fluffy pow pow last weekend.

    Heres some stats:Mountain Facts

Skiable Terrain 1,700 Acres (680 hectacres)
Longest Run 4.6 Miles (7.4 km) "Galloping Goose"
    Total Trails
    84
    Trail Difficulty
    24% Beginner
    38% Intermediate
    38% Advanced / Expert
    Total Lifts 16 Total: 2 high-speed gondolas,
    7 high-speed quads, 2 triples,
2 doubles, 2 surface lifts and 1 magic carpet
Vertical Drop 3,530 feet (1,078 m) mmmmmm orgasmic
Lift Capacity 21,186 skiers per hour
Average Annual Snowfall 309 inches (789 cm)
It is sociably acceptable to toke on the lifts and in the "coughing trees" they got some nice smokeing huts there as well.

If your thinking S. America I would head straight to Peru and climb the famous Inca Trail up to the Mtns. Peru is the only place in the world where you can ski+surf! in a days time. Hella big mountians. I had some friends go there and they had fun but said it was a bit sketchy at times. I would not go alone and spanish is a must.

I would be glad to show you around "my" mountian (Telluride) tho its a bit expensive for a day pass (60-85$ american). I know some long haired hippies who work there and can probably hook it up fat. Like free day passes and 1/2 priced passes.

Aspen and Vail area is great too. If you want xtream terrian go to Telluride if you like rich yuppies and tons of runs then Vail is for you. Same for Aspen.

If your looking for a quite place go for Sunlight in Glenwood Springs or Powder Horn (I have no clue where it is I've been there once)

If you want to frezze your ass off go to Crested Butte (Crusty Butt) in Crested Butte.

    Hope it helps some.

    peace,
    Austin

Lake Powel, Utah (fishing, boating, drunken boat parties)
Moab, Utah(momo country) (slick rock mtn. biking, climbing partying with the mormons)
Portland, Organ (tons and tons of music, famous skate park "Burnside Sk8 Park", tons of chicks, tons of homless, downtown events filled with werdios of all kinds.
It all depends on what kind of adventure your looking for.

I'd say California would be your best bet. It has the most variety in terms of things to do. You have your major cities San Francisco, LA, San Diego. Major theme parks Universal Studios, Disneyland and California Disney, Sea World, Magic Mountain. Then for the snowboarding there's Always Lake Tahoe (I usually snowboard at Heavenly) and mammoth like Mary mentioned. Nature you can go spelunking up around Angels Camp, hiking/climbing El Capitan in Yosemite, the infamous Mt. Shasta in northern Cali. If you are into wine tasting, you can check out Napa and if you are a fan of the godfather films go to the neibaum-coppola vineyard and feel leek you've been transported into the world of the godfather. If you are into surfing, you can try your luck at Mavericks if you dare. Just make sure you have a full wetsuit, pacific water here is extremely chilly even in the summer. Be prepared to see some pretty massive swells. Largest I've seen there was 50+ ft. Sadly they weren't rideable, too much chop. If golf is your thing you can play at the famous Pebble Beach, I would recommend playing Spyglass. It is the most forgiving of the four courses there. I usually play Spanish Bay which is brutal since it is modelled after St. Andrews. Skateboarding, Cali is the birthplace of modern Skateboarding. I've seen Steve Caballero skating around San Jose/Milpitas a few times.

BTW Galvacon, it's spelled Oregon (spent many years playing Oregon Trail. Sadly only had the first disk so to enjoy the game the goal was to kill off all of the pioneers before you got to the end of the first disk)

There is also sking in Oregon as well, and as far as the wierdos, well you do not have to be around them every where you go in down town Portland.Actually there are quiet a few places down town where you are not around them at all. Then again i do not know any where in the U.S your not going to run into wierdos.
