Stan Romanek's "Messages" |
| Posted by MyronXavierPoe - 12-2-09 13:37 - 2 comments |
 |
This being my first post, I am somewhat reluctant to be taking a skeptical viewpoint on a UFO/EBE topic (mainly because I am a believer). However, this morning I finished reading Stan Romanek's 2009 book, "Messages: The World's Most Documented Extraterrestrial Contact Story" and while I was reading it, some things struck me as particularly odd. I though that perhaps some other members of this board would have some thoughts to contribute on the subject.
Basically, I found that Stan's evidence unconvincing for a number of reasons.
First, his description of one craft that he was taken aboard and its propulsion system is so similar to the story presented by Bob Lazar, it is almost too convenient. Basically, he describes the craft as not having any right angles, and that everything had rounded edges. And the table in the craft was made for beings smaller than a human. That seems to be exactly how Robert Lazar described the interior of the "sport model." Lazar described the craft as looking like it was constructed from something like a Jello mold, without any right angles and perfectly smoothed edges on everywhere. Additionally, Romanek presents a discussion on element 115, complete with equations and theory as if he were the first to shed light onto 115. Of course, Lazar was the first UFO guy (that I know of) to describe 115 and how it could theoretically be used as a potent energy source because it falls into the theoretical island of stability. When Lazar discussed this way back in the early ‘90s, physicists were quick to dismiss his claims by presenting their own equations. Of course, the 2004 discovery of unstable 115, gave some credibility to Lazar's story. As I was reading, however, I was somewhat dumbfounded that Stan conveniently omits any discussion of Lazar, or the reaction equations with respect to 115 that were discussed in detail years prior to Stan's hypnosis session.
Second, with respect to his abduction experiences, I found that they seemed to be heavily influenced by famous abductions/contact experiences that came before Romanek’s. First, he starts off by saying that one of his experiences is unique, because unlike other abductions stories, he was not returned to his bed after the abduction, but was left naked outside and shivering from the cold. What immediately came to mind was the Travis Walton abduction. Also the operation room seemed to have similar gravity technology. However, no mention of Walton. In another abduction described by Romanek, he described the presence of another abductee, a woman. They sat together in a recovery room, and learned that they had both been part of some kind of fertility/genetic experiment, and had conceived alien-human hybrid children together. The offspring thanked Romanek, hugged him, and the experience consequently filled him with joy. Reading the chapter, I realized that the experience was almost identical to the Jesse Long Jr. abduction sequence. However, there was no mention of Jesse Long Jr. Additionally, the descriptions of the aliens themselves (some human-ish, Greys, reptilians), and their attire (tight suits, naked), and their messages (pollution, higher powers) seem to be influenced by descriptions by others (notably Alex Collier). No mention of Collier. He also produced a type of star map reminiscent of the Hill abduction… No mention of Betty or Barney. There are also discussions of tesseracts, red orbs, foo fighters. It just goes on and on. So I’ll stop there.
Third, and perhaps most importantly, I was skeptical of the equations that he wrote down. Romanek presents these equations in a way that subtly suggests that he was given some kind of deep understanding of theoretical astrophysics, that he could not know but for the intervention of aliens in during his abduction experiences. The only problem is, that the equations that he wrote down (full of omissions and inaccuracies) are not by any means obscure. In fact they are arguably the most discussed equations by UFO enthusiast. For the most part they are just copies of the Einstein Field Equations, equations related to the Einstein-Rosen bridge, other equations coming mainly from Einstein, Newton. He also scribbled down jot-for-jot the Puthoff equations. Of course, to derive them would take an experienced physicist or mathematician, but to memorize them and recall them only takes a devoted hoaxer.
Taken together, I think what Romanek has created an alien experience story by incorporating all of the most common themes already circulating around the UFO community. Maybe he was abducted, but what he gained from the abductions seems to be knowledge that is already a huge part of ufology.
Is Romanek’s credibility bolstered because his experiences are not entirely unique (reinforcing others’ credibility as well)? Or is his credibility suspect because Romanek gives no credit and makes no mention of those individuals who had similar experiences? I’m curious to know what you think.
Nevertheless, the book is interesting, organized, and well written. So I’d recommend it if only to remind you of ufo themes you may have forgotten about and provide a couple days of entertainment (it’s a quick read).

Denver is going to vote to study UFO's! |

Perhaps disclosure will come a little at a a time, if this works in Denver it could be the start of the Public demanding a NEW study on ufos. If you live in Denver make sure you vote on this. A proposal to create a Denver commission to study visitors from outer space will go before voters this summer after supporters gathered the required signatures to get it on the ballot. City Clerk and Recorder Stephanie O'Malley sent a letter on Monday to Jeff Peckman, who submitted the signatures, stating she had deemed them sufficient. The ordinance change required 3,974 valid signatures. Peckman submitted more than 10,000 signatures; 4,211 were valid. Peckman said he will ask voters to approve creating the commission from "grants, gifts and donations." The seven-member commission would be tasked with collecting evidence that extraterrestrials and their "UFO vehicles" have been visiting Earth the whole story can be read here: http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_13900666

triangle mark found after abduction |

Hello, My name is Jo, I'm 23 and I live in Scotland. I've suspected that I've been abducted a few times throughout my life but as I couldn't remember any details I just forgot about it and got on with everyday stuff. However, about a fortnight ago I was taken and actually retained quite a lot of memory of it, and some more has been trickling through in dreams since it happened. I was conscious and lucid and remember picking what felt like a scab off my stomach but it wasn't a scab, it was the remainder of something they'd been doing, I'm not entirely sure what. Anywho, I also retained a memory of lying on a bright table, lifting my left arm up and them inserting something into my side. I checked the area the next day as soon as I got up and found 3 tiny puncture wounds spaced about 3-4 millimeters apart that formed a perfect triangle. It's not the first time I've been left with marks and I always try to explain them logically rather than jumping to conclusions, but there really is no other explanation for a mark like that. I took a photo as evidence just for my own piece of mind, you never know when something like that may come in useful. Has anyone else found a mark like this on their body? And if so, do you remember receiving it and what it was for? Finally, I would just like to say to anyone who thinks that 'aliens' are hostile, in my experience that couldn't be farther from the truth. They are far more loving, caring and compassionate than any creature inhabiting this planet could even begin to contemplate. It really upsets me when people try to label them as evil. I can only speak from my own experiences of course, but I truly believe they are good and are here to oversee and help us, not harm us. Thanks for listening and please reply Jo
