    Cool COOL SHADES - brain

A mind is a terrible thing to waste...

YOU'VE GOT SOMETHING BETWEEN YOUR EARS

Maybe you think your skull holds a sack of smart soup, enabling you to figure out that conclusion. Or maybe you believe your body is a vessel containing your spirit until you die, at which point it returns to the spirit world.

    Not true.

The mind is created by a biological supercomputer, consisting of hundreds of miniaturized powerful specialized computers, connected economically: like a multi-fiber/coloured ball of wool.

Need some fiber? Hundreds of networks are connected by a 100 billion neurons and support cells, transferring information to every part of your brain. Image by Kiyoshi Takahase Segundo.

In life your spirit is your mind. Having a mind is an experience produced by the brain, a biological supercomputer as complex as the known universe. This supercomputer in turn consists of hundreds of miniaturized networks, powerful specialized computers in themselves that create the mind in innumerable fragments. These networks are not as localized as neat brainmaps suggest, above all else they are connected to other networks in an economical fashion: like a multy-fiber/coloured ball of wool.

Here's the quote to beat: Dan Quail's "A mind is terrible thing to waste", if you forget everything you read in this topic, this you must remember.

The most popular description, from Evolutionary Psychology, for these networks is MODULES, and the theory concerned is called Modular Theory. I'm going to name them modules from now on.

    BE YOURSELF

I'm me and you are you, and in modern European(ized) countries we are brought up with the ideal of showing the self in an open and honest way. You've got to be for real. Spontaneity, charisma and charm reassure us we get to know the real person presenting himself to our eyes and ears.

Sorry. The experience of 'being me' is produced by a module consisting of a handful socalled black boxes, each creating bits and pieces of individuality. 'Me' is an illusion created by the normal and healthy brain, that is painfully exposed when people suffer braindamage in traffic accidents and the like. It is possible to lose a part of yourself this way, never to regain your old sense of self.

Another module creates masks. In pre-history it didn't pay to show the real you. When confronted with a large family of hungry cannibals, survival depended on the theater of puffing yourself up, as big and bad and unafraid, contemplating eating them!! Born to bluff, that is us. Babies are born with the ability to exaggerate milk needs, and a smily visage to inhibit adult violent urges: Don't kill me or gobble me up, love me because I'm lovable. (I realize modern parents don't eat their children). During our whole life, healthy human brains manufacture lots of masks, automatically adapting our behavior to as many new, and possibly threatening, situations as we are confronted with. And underneath all of those masks, there is no real me. Just masking machinery.

Here's the bombshell: 'being yourself' is one more mask. A very sophisticated one.

"Mind what you have learned. Save you it can..." Yoda, Master Yedi Knight.

    NON-PATHOLOGICAL LIARS

Humans are born with modules for lies, deception and self-deception. Call these one combination module if you like. As complex social animals we just need a few little lies a day. To avoid the wrath of our parents, for small misdeeds. To impress our friends and schoolmates. And to win dates, boy/girlfriends, sex.

Enter deception. It's the complexity of social life that does it. Intelligently combine a couple of untruths to influence life's outcomes. Projecting a cool/popular image is deception. Charming or manipulating others to get your way is too. By the time you know how to sweet-talk your way into a good university or well-paid job you are on your way to mastery.

Self-deception is (literally) the most tricky part. As moral beings it is unbearable to think of ourselves as overly deceitful. Our brains solve this by the following sequence: You lie. You know you just lied. Lie-awareness is deleted, and a justification is fabricated. You remember it as truth.

Jimmy Swaggart, firy preacher with zero tolerance of sin, is caught having a tryst with a prostitute. His public and emotional repentance on 21 Februari 1988, Baton Rouge: "...I have sinned against You, my Lord..."

For the sake of our emotional comfort/peace of mind a substantial segment of our deceptions is deleted this way.

    MODULAR MAN

Seeing through. Your mind is here: At far left inside Saturns' rings, backlit by the sun, a tiny white dot is seen: Earth. (Photo Cassini)

It takes a large visual module to create the experience of vision. About ten percent of vision consists of sensory information from your eyes. The rest is a game-world generated by this brain module.

Normal hearing is created by at least three modules. One to detect and understand spoken language. One that helps you to enjoy music. Another that interprets natural background noise (like the stealthy footsteps of an approaching predator). A healthy brain switches between these modules as situations demand. All three take in sound-info from the ears.

There are major modules that enable you to use language, feel pain, disgust and fear. And to function as a psychological being: reading and recognizing faces/body-language, imagining other persons, to use rational thought, to feel moral limitations (remorse), to express anger as appropiate (in degrees). To control your body. To be awake. To sleep and to dream. ETC. ETC.

    ALIENS AT THE SWITCHES

Greys wear black eyecovers (speculatively) similar to the interactive flight helmets used by our fighter pilots, basically a miniaturized computer, connected to the computers flying the aircraft (=disk in this case). Accessible are interactive heads-up flight controls, even a view into the human body, comparable to the 3-D magnetic resonance imaging hospitals use.

What I've read a million times in abduction reports is the frightening experience of being switched off, sometimes described as alien telepathic control. What is turned off here? A part of consciousness, of wakefulness, causing a dreamlike feeling. Executive control of one's body, though sometimes moving/walking under alien direction occurs. Alien directed sexual activity (orgasm, intercourse) is also reported.

There's a problem with the term telepathic control. It is a vague, mysterious description of almost supernatural alien powers. It mystifies rather than explains.

Ever wondered why many alien races, especially the large-skulled socalled Greys, wear those Arnie Schwartzinator wrap-around sunglasses? Perhaps they hide behind them. Certainly they travel deep space, making them creatures of eternal night, unadapted to bright daylight.

But the true function of this impressive eyegear is practical. These goggles are the original 'Eagle Eyes', not darkening but adaptively enhancing vision under all light conditions.

They are similar to the interactive flight helmets used by our fighter pilots, basically a miniaturized computer, connected to the computers flying the aircraft (=disk in this case). Accessible are heads-up flight controls, to pilot their craft, inside our universe or beyond. The interactive heads-up display in these goggles includes a view into the human body, comparable to the 3-D magnetic resonance imaging hospitals use. Most importantly, all important modules of our brain and body are visually represented, and can be directly manipulated by alien visitors. I suspect they divert a tiny amount of energy from their anti-gravity drive, to zap human modules generating our consciousness and control over our musculature. No mystery here. Just a very practical way to control abductees.

The possibly alien original of Eagle Eyes sunglasses doesn't darken, but adaptively enhances vision under all light conditions.

For you: questions about alien abductions. Are they real? Are you angry it happens? I love to hear your insights/opinions.

    Cool COOL SHADES addendum

Dear patient reader, and any aliennutters OUT THERE,

Because of time-constraints writing the COOL SHADES topic, I left out a few things I assumed well known and some technical details. Let me make up...

Although I refer to the wraparound sunglasses worn by Arnold Schwartzenegger in the Terminator movies, the alien version of such 'cool shades' are highly advanced lenses directly clinging to the eye, not unlike contact lenses. The whole front of the eyeball is covered, allowing for eyemovements under the lens. (This is specifically reported by abductees). The lenses double as computer display, allowing for a heads-up display controlled by eyemovements.

Lens technology features the lens forming to the eye, an inner layer simulating eye fluids. The outer layer is many times tougher than steel. Layers protect against harmful radiation and enhance vision reactively, as light conditions change (planetary daylight/deep space radiation). These lenses do not darken vision, only hide alien eyes from our view.

Enjoy, and there's nothing to fear from disagreement...

    hackle,

These eye covers are not unlike outsized contact lenses, covering the entire front of the alien eye-ball. Colours: Mostly black. A few reports about blue and red.

I AM BETTING THE SAME, they are not bulletproof*.

    Your question on nightvision: Yes.

Many abductions take place at night. The U.S. copied their first nightvision goggles from alien eye-wear. Human fighter pilots have HUD displays accessable though eye-movements, also originally derived from this alien source.

*Unrelated to alien eye-covers, there are reports of aliens being shot at and 'hit'with fire-arms without being injured.

That's what I like. Something that makes sense, in a weird sort of way. I guess you could classify the parts of the human 'self' as modules. It doesn't change the fact that once a critical mass (of modules?) is reached, an interface of all these separate 'masks' becomes what we call a human. But I doubt that much of the 'module package' can be removed or overridden and still maintain a viable human.

Curiously, one of the problems in current AI thinking is how to form hierarchy systems that are self regulating and self assertive. It seems to be a matter of when each sub routine should dominate, and under what conditions a change of 'module' should occur.*I digress*

As to the lens theory, time will tell. It would make sense that our air force would adapt such a technology if we had learned the concept from alien contact and autopsies. Do the oversized skulls indicate the use of 'onboard' computer type electronics that aid in the use of these lenses?
(As an aside, if ETs used some type of electronic enhancement of this nature, a taser would be the most effective weapon for self protection for a human, as it would most likely disable their optical advantage.)

Good post, dani. food for thought.

    Thanks enigma,

Relatively large skull sizes are explained by Evolutionary Psychology (dealing esspecially with brain evolution) as selected trade-offs each species makes at evolutionary 'forks in the road'. We have our skull size just right for running, fleeing from predators, hunting and fighting. At the same time we lost some potential visual ability requiring a much bigger head relative to our body.

I dare speculate that 'alien bigheads' took a different developmental course, opting for greater visual ability, processing in 3-D maybe, and experiencing some advantage in mathematical reasoning. (Einstein is famous for his ability to manipulate three-dimensional objects in his mind). I have not come across any information indicating aliens have computers intheir heads.

Alien lenses must be comparatively under-powered miniature computers connected to a main computer aboard their flying disc (or whatever means of transport used). At least that's how human fighter pilots use flight helmets with integrated controls. It's the logical way to go.

Your theory regarding disrupting alien technology using taser-like weapons makes sense to me. I'm thinking of some kind of wave technology, even.

dani, that was a good read on defensetech.org. Now I would like to know how many times it's been tested on the public? Maybe I just don't trust the gov, but the next time I get violently ill all at once, instead of blaming that double hot chilecheese dog with a side of onions, I'll look around for some white van with blacked out windows and a lame "Mr.Roto-Rooter" sticker.

And I wasn't serious about the conehead/computers thing. We're already starting to develop ways to print computer circuits onto fabric, so wearing the needed electronics should be a snap for ETs.

And deterring aliens from kidnapping humans should be a high priority on anyones list. I'm with you on wave technology, or lowly tasers, or anything else that could discourage what is an unlawful act on a citizen of Earth.

    enigmarider,

The official position by the military is that it is not used on the American public, these are experimental non-lethal weapons. Tests are done on volunteers.

Unlawful? unlawful?? Did you just open a whole new can of worms...

I think some abductee should file federal charges! Then, if everyone got on board, force the gov to investigate it just like any other kidnapping.

Why not? I don't know of any rule excluding aliens from the law.
