our dear friends at the FDA are up to some strange activities these days... this is the latest one:
FDA
this is an article outlining a colorado clinic that offers a non-surgical procedure to reduce moderate joint pain using adult stem cells. the FDA has now deemed that stem cells are in fact, drugs, thus able to be regulated by them -- the FDA.
what concerns me the most about this article, is that the FDA is coming right out and saying;
which means, the fda doesn't like this procedure because out-of-staters are no longer buying up their FDA-approved druggies! so blatant... clearly all about the money. =(The clinic is engaging in interstate commerce and is therefore subject to FDA regulation because any part of the machine or procedure that originates outside Colorado becomes interstate commerce once it enters the state. Moreover, interstate commerce is substantially affected because individuals traveling to Colorado to have the Regenexx procedure would “depress the market for out-of-state drugs that are approved by FDA.”

yeah.... governmental regulator agencies have been corporate puppets for a long while now.
You know how many people in the EPA have worked for the oil companies?
you don't want to know.
Ill start killing them if shit gets out of control
i keep my promise <3

Start killing people for any reason and you are going to die bloody or by lethal injection.
As you should.
There are processes in place to challange laws that you object to.
Befor the FDA started regulating drugs, quacks sold a lot of snake oil.
Put a little alcohol, cocaine, or heroine in it, and you were convinced the cure all made you feel better cause it could cure anything.
Medical treatments do need to be evaluated and go through an approval process.
What if it cures one illness, and causes terminal brain cancer?
Or, if it can be mixed up by anybody without a review process, they might start exploiting with stuff that was cheap and worthless.
Wherever there is profit, there are the unscrupulous who will take advantage, with no care of the damage or death they might inflict.
If it is a viable therapy, then there is a process to get it approved, and a list of side effects for patients to be aware of.
All medical processes have side effects.
Anyone claiming one does not, is sure to be a snake oil sailsmen.
Whatever works, use it.
A good idea stands on its own value independent of authorship.
If it stands or falls on the credibility of the author, maybe it isn't such a good idea.
im saying if they get out of control and start ruining everything ;o
what if they took away your normal asprin?
And you couldn't buy it in ur state?

bart i hear ya pal, i really do... and i agree for the most part about the regulations. it's when they are doing things because they have a bit of power to help them continue to make more and more money when i get angered. they flat out said, "well, if we let em keep doing that operation, we'll sell less drugs to peeps in the surrounding states... can't have that, let's label stem cells as drugs so we can get jurisdiction and shut down their operation..."
that's a problem.
where are the checks/balances?

If they took away my normal aspirin i'd chew yarrow leaves, willow leaves, or aspen leaves, depending on the time of year.
The FDA does make sense, in that you need an agency in place to make sure things do what they say they do, but, really, trying to control access to different compounds is meaningless. Even extremely complex compounds can be readily accessed if you have the right seeds. The ubiquitous nature of alcohol made prohibition impossible, and there's plenty of other examples.
If you want examples of this, look into trytophan and see how well making that illegal has worked out for the FDA. Ultimately, the moral of the story is don't buy shit from countries that don't believe in the same quality control processes, but, it's also a good example of ineffective regulation (both before and after the poisonings.).
Did you read the whole article Bart?

Do you agree with the FDA here?
Personally I think the FDA is more and more for seeing big profits to pharmaceuticals and big busness first and our safety second.
In search of the real truth.
