AVP 1 was pretty okay.
I was a little disappointed by 2,
And since sequels are rarely ever as good as an original. Hopefully I'm wrong and it'll turn out great. But my hopes aren't high.

Looks like we will see another sequal to the basic predator movies. Slated for 2010 but may be later...

Alien versus Predator 3 is a sure thing. Probably will not see that until 2011 or so...

Mmm, I've liked a few films directed by Robert Rodriguez.... But redesigning the predators?
Hmmm... We'll see. But currently, the problem hasn't been with the predators in the film -they're scary as hell - but has been it's plot and implementation.
Apparently he'll be putting more predators in it. This, to me, makes them far less scary.
Things have their own aspects which make them scary, and certain qualities ruin it.
Such as the Crawlers in the Descent. Alone, they're pathetic and weak. The beauty and horror of these creatures only come about when they form an unbeatable horde.
However, Predators are classically lone warriors. Solitary hunters. This isolationism and self-reliance is what defines them and makes them scary. Hopefully a whole bunch of them won't ruin this, but it might.
That's just a rumour though, I'm not sure how true it is.
I think Hollywood has run out of ideas. They've nothing else to do but butcher the classic film franchises.
The Predator comic books/graphic novels have really good stories. Hollywood writers just can't compete with that.
They could then plagiarize the best of ideas, no matter where they come from.
Instead, they create the films by committee and all reach the same conclusion: make it bigger! Louder! More CGI! The funny thing is I've not seen any film use CGI better or more realistically than Jurassic Park in the nearly two decades since that film came out and despite the progress made in computing since then. Another thing that is stupid is how they all have the same corny and formulaic comic relief, the kind of thing that no-one appreciates and which leaves everyone groaning.
(I understand that Jurassic Park was a mixture of CGI and animatronics, but I'm not confused about which sequences were which.)

I still like the first the best.
